Audi didn't make a v12 just because they could. There is are reasons behind it.
First off it's 6 liters. Displacement is displacement. just about the same as the Cummins. It's fuel consumption should be the same or better under same conditions. Heck, easier to get air into each cylinder, less room to fill up per hole.
Second. there are twice the amount of power cycles in that motor. that would make things extreamly smooooooooth.
third, you have more pulses into the turbos, there for they will spool faster and can be bigger, there for more boost = more power.
4th, lighter internal parts. higher RPMS. Something we are all looking for in our motors. (read, duramax, powerstoke, 2 liter TDI's).
