I have an '05 CTD with auto transmission, 37k, 16 months old. No abuse. All maintenance performed as required. No leaks. Fluid levels good.
When all these things are true:
1) transmission is cold.
2) First gear.
3) Light throttle (less than one-fourth).
Result: it acts like it's trying to lock up the T/C, but shudders in and out, in and out, several times a second. Problem doesn't happen after things warm up, in any other gear, or under heavier throttle.
Ideas, oh wise ones?
