Auto transmission ??

What is the preferred fluid to use in 93 Auto? I believe it is the 46 or 47 RH?
It is is a 4X4 250 Cummins. Any other tips on this transmission welcome. Right now it works great!! Thanks.

Chrysler recomends ATF+3 or ATF+4. The +4 is available from the dealer or if you have a mind to go synthetic Amsoil has a +4 rated synthetic fluid.

Thanks, Bob. Not sure how I feel about Amsoil, yet. I have a friend who sells it, and he pushes me toward it. Would be interested in some other opinions or experiences with it (amsoil)... either ATF or motor oil in Dodge.

I asked a simular question about automatics a while back and basically it sounds like the most important thing is to service the trans on a regular basis, make sure to shift down if the temp goes up, and most people are running a synthetic oil (I put in Amsoil +4, but Redline was also highly recommended).

I've been using Amsoil in all of my transmissions. Never seen the temp guage go over 140 degrees, even when max loaded and max pulling. I have nothing but the tiny stock transmission cooler.

BEWARE THE TPS!(Throttle Posistion Sensor) If you experience intermittent shifting into overdrive more than likely the problem is the tps. I'm on number four with 183,000 on truck
