I got new gauges for Christmas but am unsure about installing them. I have the three gauge dash pod from Autometer and want to run the wires between the windshield and the dash. I bought some 3/8 inch split loom and stuffed it down between the windshield and the dash and it fit perfect. what I'm struggling with is where to drill the hole in the pod. Has anyone tried to fit the wires between the aluminum inner and the plastic outer? The other option is to drill through the aluminum. Any pictures of your installation or finished product would be much appreciated.

Thanks, Aaron

I just put a hole in the dash with a hot soldering iron (pencil tip) - much easier than trying to drill a hole!. I'm assuming you didn't want to go that route. You might consider the soldering iron trick if you decide to put a hole in the pod.

I also put a hole in dash with soldering iron. Then place pod over hole and everything looks great. Plenty of room to feed wires up to pod location behind factory radio. truck is a '96

I have installed two of these now, I used a very close right angle drill adapter and drilled a 5/8" hole in the dash:eek:  I have some 5/8 plastic flush plugs that I painted along with th pod, and just for the heck of it, put the plug in to see how it would look if I removed the pod... ..... really not bad at all. Almost looks like it was supposed to be there.

Maybe I should drill a hole in the dash but I'm going to try going down along the A-pillar first. I drilled a hole in the back of my pod already anyway. My first attempt went badly but I now have everything in except for my fuel pressure gauge. I learned the hard way that it's very important to check to see if your wire bundle will fit through the hole you drilled before installing it. I thought it looked plenty big but came to find out it was not quite big enough. :( I'm now waiting for a new hose for my fuel pressure gauge because I ruined the first one trying to jam it in.
