Average MPG readings are different between 06-07

Hey there! When I reset my Ave MPG on the consol in my 06 it would start at the current reading and slowly work it's way up. On the 07 it jumps right up to the current fuel economy. With only 150 miles on the ODO it was reading 21. 7. . WHen I picked it up from dealer it was reading 14. 2... . COOOOOL! I still need to get used to being able to turn on the stereo w/o the key being turned on!! :-laf

I drive an 06 3500,6 speed,3. 73 rear end. My overhead console readout has been consistently overstating the MPG. For the last 29,000 miles, my hand calculations have been 3 to 4 mpg lower than readout. Typically, in the 20 to30% error range. Dealer has no clue! My best response has been" the readout is just an estimate". So much for professionals. I'm waiting for the technical people to respond. Anyone got input????

You are right....

My 99 was always 2 mpg below hand calculations. My 06 is always 2 mpg lower than hand calculations. I think DC does this intentionally so that many folks think they are in fact getting those numbers. Only us geeks who do hand calculations know their con.
