Time to change the fluid in both the front and rear axles on my 2018 dually with a 3.73 rear axle. Have a few questions.
What is the capacity of the front axle?
Is the gasket reusable?
What is the torque for the bolts holding the cover on?

What is the capacity of the rear axle?
Is the gasket reusable? Was on my 2005 but this appears to be a little different.
What is the torque for the fasteners holding the cover on?

Thanks in advance for any responses.

Gaskets are reusable.

figure 3 qts front and 4 qts rear.

looks like 30 ft lbs.

I highly recommend 75-90 Severe Gear front and rear. If towing heavy 75-110 rear.

OE lube is junk.

Both gaskets are reusable.

IIRC torque is 30 lb/ft.. thou I don’t normally use a torque wrench on diff covers.

Front holds approx 2.3 quarts
Rear holds approx 4.25 quarts

I bought 7 quarts and have a little leftover.

Really not much has changed on the axles since 05. Some trussing differences, CAD, and larger R&P out back, but both axles are the same basic axle.

^^^^^^ I think I said that.

My rear has consistently taken 4.0 quarts on level ground filling to bottom of hole on aluminum cover.

Yes you did... in an edit. The only thing you said at first was that the gaskets are reusable. So it appears I filled in the rest of his questions while you edited your posts :p:D

Silly me for not refreshing the thread before posting to see if you updated your post

I had to do research and come back with answers twice.

That’s what happens when ya try to be the first with the answers. :D

I use Amsoil gear oil 75W-90 for my needs. The last time I changed my gear oil I paid $15.29 a quart for 8 quarts. I have the Mag-Hytec diff covers so, I do use more gear oil.

My Son is a Wholesaler so he "HAS TO" sell to me at his cost!!!

Thanks for the info. Think I will go with the same fluid I used in the 2005 truck which was Mobil 1 75W90. Amazon has a good price.
I used the Mobil 1 75-90 also but I’ve been thinking about draining a quart and adding a quart of 75-140. I’ve always had good service with the Mobil 1.

I have a 7K TT and a 24 ft trailer that belongs to a friend. Right now it’s holding the floor down in my shop with the “pandemic” going on.
