Is the procedure for checking the fluid level on the 11.8 inch rear axle the same as for the 11.5", 1/4" + or - 1/4" below the fill hole? My manual only talks about the front axle and the 10.5" and 11.5" rear axles. and does anyone know the fluid capacity of the front axle and the 11.8 rear axle. thanks for the help.

With stock covers, I just fill until it begins to run out the fill hole. With Mag-Hytec, I use 6 quarts in the rear, which is about the stock height. You can fill them more if you wish.

I believe there is still a fill line on the cover. But as Joe says, can't hurt much to over fill some.

On my 2013 3500, 6 qt is about 1/4" below the lower scribe mark on the dipstick. The Mag Hytec instructions say it will be at the scribe mark, which is probably correct for Third Gen housings.

Could someone tell me the approximate capacity of the axles with the stock covers? I was gonna guess around 3.5 qts for the front and around 4.5 qts for the rear
