Way back in the day (70s&80s) there was a company named "Hickey Enterprises" that made a truss for the front axle that was a pretty neat item, I had one on a 73 Chevy. I don't know who bought out Hickey but I think they went on to produce the truss. The truss consisted of bar steele welded to a cradle of sorts for under the center section of the dif. and at the wheel ends there was a "U" bolt of sorts that slipped through the area below the knuckle and was fastened to the end of the bar stock via a threaded piece of flat stock about 1/2 x 1" in size and held in place with self locking nuts.

If someone knows who bought Hickey Enterprises perhaps they are still in business. I think it was a company called Grace but I don't know the rest of the name.

I had that style on my old Chevy(73) I was also able to break it... ... ... .

That style will not work on our truck because of all the bracketry being in the way. The old leaf sprung axles were much easier to modify and up grade. I have also used cables as a truss, much simpler and lighter but again with the brackets in the way... ..... not practicle.

Just an update... ... . the truss has been tested quite brutally in the dunes and the desert. Doing well. The suspension has been up graded again to a 3"king shock system from Carli suspension in Orange Ca. So far I have not seen any thing that can keep up with it through the whoops. I think MBIGLEY saw it in action at Glamis last week ;)
