I just returned from a hunting trip and while headed over the pass we pulled into a closed weigh station that you can still read the scales.

My axle weights were:

front 4740

rear 6220

trailer 8180 tamdom axle and weight distributing hitch.

the truck brand new and empty was 7600 total, f-4490, r-3050.

To get the total weight of the entire rig do I just add up the axle weights? Thenumbers seem to be real close when it is just the truck. Does it hold true with a truck trailer combo?

TIA

Steve:

Your gross combined weight should be the total of the weights of front and rear truck axle plus the weight of the trailer's tandem axles. I'm assuming the trailer was connected to the truck and the trailer's pin or tongue weight was riding on the truck's rear axle. I'm also assuming the trailer weight was only the axle weight excludng the pin or tongue weight.
