In the process of installing a new B-1 Turbo and ATS Manifold on the old truck. Taking some pictures for those interested to check out. Removed the stock turbo and manifold tonight and got the ATS in ready to tackle the turbo and down pipe in the morning.

Pictures Below

So does the ATS come assembled since it is a 3 piece manifold or did you have to heat it up and press the outer manifolds into the middle one? I see you went for the big bucks and got the coating they put on there... .

BTW, how many miles did you have on your stock manifold and how much heat(maximum) did it see throughout it life on the engine? Any signs of cracking or shrinking?

Just came in for a lunch break - man getting the down pipe (I am making one myself) off and fabbed to fit is a b***h... .

HoleshotHolset - That is Kurt's "standard b-1" not sure what the size is. . you would think I should know but I am going to start here and adjust (swap) if necessary.

JGheen - That coating is POR-20 High temp paint - I had some other exhaust parts (not on my Dodge) coated by Jet-Hot and had some rust through. . Jet Hot gives you a lifetime warranty BUT you have to take the part back to them to re-coat it. . I figured the POR-20 may not hold up forever but at least when I want to "show and shine" I can touch it up and not have to remove the manifold.

As far as the ATS manifold it comes in 3 pieces. I just pounded it together with a wooden block and rubber hammer. One side was tight the other fit just right.

My stock manifold had 185,000 miles on it and was in pretty good shape - no cracks and did not shrink that much. I am easy on my truck "most of the time" but it had seen several spurts up to 1500 - 1600 degrees. That is the main reason for all this work - reduce EGT's.

:D Going back outside to try and finish will post more pictures later. .

Cool deal, I am in the works for gettin' the ATS manifold as well but funds are slightly tight right now and I just discovered an exhaust leak from the #4 gasket last night, so I think I am gonna get it sooner than I think. Can't stand those leaks. That paint you purchased, was it just basic engine or header paint from Kragens or somewhere?

Oh yeah, and when you got your manifold, did it come with new hardware to replace the rusty stock bolts?

The paint I ordered on the internet - http://www.por15.com/product.asp?productid=128

That is the only place I could find it - POR-20 was recommended by others so I figured I'd try it. Others have had luck with stove paint and regular Dupli-color high temp... We'll see how the POR-20 holds up.

The bolts that came with the manifold are hardened steel allen head bolts - do a search on "ATS Manifold" and you'll find all kind of recommendations about mounting hardware - I went with 10mm stainless.

I noticed from your pics that the ATS doesn't have turbine mounting studs like the stock manifold does. Does the ATS use bolts or did ATS supply studs that you have to install?

New turbo and manifold on truck - Had to clock the turbo a little to get the oil return line lined up correctly. Clocking was easy, even mounted on the truck.
