Got the Mallory mount in the mail today, the question is which filter to get? I definately do not want a filter thats going to come apart and trash my turbo! I don't plan on driving under water but the thing may get wet on occasion. Which filter will hold up? Does K&N make a filter that will fit in the Mallory mount? Inquiring minds need to know.

I have a mallory mount with a BHAF on it and have never had a problem with it getting wet. I drove in some good rain storms this fall and I checked the filter, it was always dry as a bone. I don't do river crossing with my truck so I guess I will never know if that would get if wet. If you are really worried I do not think it would be that hard to make a screen of some type that would fit on the end of the BHAF that could catch any chunks that came off the filter.

To answer you other question, I think you could use the mallory mount with any of the aftermarket filters. I had the KNRE0880 prior to the BHAF and I believe it Mallory mount would hold it in place just fine. All it would take is a smaller zip tie.

I could not get the link to carls website to work either, but the other link worked fine. Does any one have the part # for the BFF??

If for just a piece of mind you need to buy BHAF #AH19002. The only difference from ah19037 is its 8"diameter not 10" which gives you a little more room and its fiberglass not paper. So if that one time your out and it does get wet it wont cost you a couple grand to have paper removed from the intercooler and turbo. You know how murphys law works. Hope this helps. Paul

I just picked up a Fleetgaurd AH19002 from Cummins Metro for $62. Good lookin filter w/ the wire mesh inside & out!

One question though. Because it has a smaller diameter, will it still work with the Mallory mount?

The mount should work with any smaller filter just, move the angles around that hold the filter. You could drill out the rivets rotate the angles 180 degrees and the replace the rivets. I bet that would be just about for an 8 inch dia. filter. They are common rivets, or put in some nuts and bolts in so it would be easy to swap back. brian mallory
