I'm sure somebody has put in a B&W gooseneck hitch that has the liners installed. Can anybody show me some pictures and tell me how they ran the pull rod through them?

Thanks,

Andy

I don't have pics. but what i did was went to lowes and i bought a 3ft piece of 3/16 brass rod and just made a new longer rod and stuck it out thru a 1/4 inch hole in the liner

very easy, just instll the rod first them bend a loop at the hitch end, then cut to lenth and just bend an L on the liner side, so the liner can be removed.

I had BPINE on here help me out he cut the end off and welded an extension onto it so that it goes through a 1/4" hole looks clean and keeps the purporse of the liner in tact...

I drilled the 4" hole in the wheel well liner and surprisingly, there is very little mud, dirt, etc. that gets into the frame area.

If you create a small hole only, you will need 2 people to turn the ball over because the latch arm will lock in the dis-engaged position by pulling the latch rod out and then push it toward the front of the truck.

Then you can turn the ball over and re-engage the pin-lock by pushing the latch rod toward the back of the truck which allows the spring-loaded latch to snap back through the hitch ball in its locked position.

So, with this in mind the 3" hole is probably appropriate as this is about the amount of fore-aft travel required to latch and unlatch the locking mechanism.

Just my 2 cents.

CPittman, My thoughts exactly , Better have a second person to turnover or remove ball. I wonder if a horizontal slot might work and look a little better ?

Get your money back on the B&W. Go with Diamond hitch, no rod, :) No Hole.

get a little dirt wedged in that diamond hitch and it will be a heck of a fight to get the ball back out. Stay with b&w, they work well, and install easily. B&W offers a longer pull rod for the trucks with inside liners but no one ever mentions it. You would have to ask for it the cost is 5. 00. B&W phone # 1-800-248-6564

You guys are confusing me. I thought I had the wheel liners in my truck but was able to install my b&w without any issues/cutting. Are the dually liners different? There are some kind of plastic liners in there that keep the mud from going all over, I think they are 2 pieces... .

I have only seen one 3rd gen truck with the wheel well liners. It was on a single wheel truck. As far as I know they are an option not standard. Have not seen any type of a liner on a dually yet. hope this clears it up DaveK98

I try to limit the dirt hauling to the dump truck, and

the towing to the DODGE :D
