Just got done putting in a new lift pump along with the Wildcat max Flow fuel line kit. Everything installed okay, but when I bumped the starter to prime the system, I would only get 1. 5-2 psi post filter. I bumped the starter about 4-5 times, but the results didn't change. I checked the filter and it had filled back up, and there was fuel at the vp44. Swapped the old (weak but not dead) lift pump back in and it primed up and fired up.

So, my question; how many folks have had bad lift pumps right out of the box from Cummins?

BTW, the Max Flow kit was good for 2-3 psi at WOT even with the old lift pump. Good stuff!

Anything is possible. I road race a 99 Corvette and it went bang last spring. Took out the motor, transmission and rear. :{ I rushed and and bought new parts in May. One was a new rear end. The shop doing the job let everything sit till September  When breaking it in with no abuse the rear went bad in 300 miles. I went and purchased another that Sept. It did the same thing in 350 miles with no abuse. What are the odds of that? Just to show ya it is possible. Third rear has been fine.

I had one about 2 years ago, and it took about another year to get my money back from Cummins Mid South in New Orleans. I had to purchase a second 160 buck pump that same day to get running, so Cummins could sent bad pump back for verification that it was bad.

I've had one that I installed on my personal truck that had 5psi idle and put my old one back on immediatly. Got it warrantied with no questions. But I work there so that might be the reason for that, but Idid have to fill out warranty paperwork. Every now and then I'll get a bad one when working on trucks in the shop, but it gets replaced immediatly.

dead lp out of bax

had one of those about a month ago. bought from local cummins dealer . replaced no questions asked. do you suppose they test these things? what kind of quality control do they have?
