Bad News, Noooooooooo 2001

I ordered a 2001 ETH/DEE the last week of March. My dealer tells me this morning, sorry it is not happening #ad
. Says build will start again after June, with DC taking new orders after June 1, 2000. I know that other trucks have been built and delivered that were ordered around the same time. I am not a happy camper #ad

Not sure what the next step is. Maybe it will still show up. This same thing happened to a buddy of mine on a 94 truck. He found another truck on a lot and bought it. About two weeks later the ordering dealer calls and says your truck is here. Sometimes I really wonder if anybody is really at the switch at DC.

Comment/Question???? I have seen several versions of dates for production runs of 2001/2002 trucks. Does anybody have any inside FACTUAL information on production dates for the next 18 months or so. My dealer tells me that the orders taken in June will be for 2001's, which I assume if true will run until sometime in Mid 2001. Any facts here may help in my next move.

If you have not already, I would get the order # from your dealer and call 1-800-992-1997(DC) and get the scoop from them. At least they should be able to tell you what status it is in(original ETH/DEE waiting club has all the status codes on pg. 1 or pg. 2). I got news for you, it will be worth the wait. I ordered mine on 2/17 and picked it up on 5/10-almost 3 months. Good luck!

I am sure it will be worth the wait, I just hope it isn't going to be a six month wait. Kind of a strange setup on the order (and this may be the problem!). I ordered through a broker/leasing company who in turn places all of their DC orders though a large fleet dealer in the Chicago Land area. The price was right, less than the invoice price for a NW ordered truck. Plus the broker is able to arrange a lease that will include custom aftermarket mods. Because of this arrangement I do not have direct access to the actual DC dealer. The broker indicated that even though he had put a rush on it in March, that possiblly low profit margin deals "might have taken a backseat" to higher profit deals at the fleet dealer in Chicago. I don't think the broker ever got any build or VIN numbers.

I gotta call Bullsh** on that one, I ordered my truck (2001 quadcab eth/6sp 3500 4x4 dually) on MAY 17th!!... this is an excerpt from an e-mail I received just before signing on to this forum. .

"Hello Duwayne,

Your truck is D1 this means 12 more days or so in the factory, and then 2 weeks on transport. . will keep you updated as more information becomes available. "


Call your dealer, find out what's up... I'm not making this up, I'm being 100% honest and not exagerating anything.

If you call the 800-992-1997 number,they should be able to find your order by your name (remember,they put you name on the window sticker), I gave them my name on one order and they found it,no problem.

Looks liked their production dates have slipped a bit. I was D1 on 5/10 (ordered 5/4) with a ship date of 5/30. My build date is now scheduled for the second week of June now, ship date unknown.

The reason behind the delay is Chrysler is re-tooling the 2500 & 3500 Dodge Ram assembly line for the Mercedes 4. 3L diesel.

Apropos of nothing whatever, I ordered my wife's new Dakota (Club Cab SLT, V-6, 5 speed) on 15 May (according to the dealer, the last day to order a 2000 model) and was told last week the truck is scheduled to be built the week of 12 June.

Thanks for the hints, information and tips. I will call the 800 # on Tuesday and see if I can track this by either my name or dealer name. It sounded pretty strange to me also. I suspect the fleet dealer messed up somehow, as the broker makes about zero on the truck, his money comes from the commerical leases he writes. The thought has occured to me that maybe the fleet dealer sold it to someone else for more $$$.
