I am having a bad vibration when taking off. It gets stronger when I am pulling a trailer. The vibration is worse in reverse than any other gear. At times the truck shakes so violenty that I have to stop and start again. I have been to the dealer twice about this, they pressure-tested the clutch and said it was like new. They are currently looking for answers. The truck has 27. 000 miles on it, and has been doing this since it was new. Does anyone else have this same problem? I would greatly appreciate any help. 2003 quad cab, 4x4, short bed, manual transmission

I had that problem once with a Chevy truck. I swapped the clutch and it didn't help. I them changed the pressure plate and it went away. I couldn't see any problem with the naked eye, but I figure the pressure plate had a high spot in it or something like that. Might not be your problem, but worth thinking about.

If the pressure plate or the flywheel have been burned, the metal will develop hard spots. The only recourse is to replace them.

I have tried to mill the surface of the flywheel before, didn't help. The metal has changed it characteristics.

If burned badly enough, the metal is discolored. Will start to look blue in hue. (no pun intended)

The dealer said they checked everything out and it was all fine, then they had me pay $450 for inspecting everything out. I appreciate your help.

Sounds like drive line angle problem. There is a TSB for the two piece shaft center support. The only way to change it on a one piece shaft is to put shims in the rear. They are less than $20. 00 at any four wheel drive store. You need to measure your angles with the truck loaded. The service manual gives a detailed procedure to check the angles. The problem is if you fix it loaded, it might do it unloaded!
