Ball Joint Question

This is on my 05 with about 50K. My dirt driveway is about 1 mile long with some minor bumps and I am starting to notice a clunk coming fom the front end. I don't notice any clunking while driving on the highway though but I do notice a slight pull to the right. Could this possibly be my ball joints?

Could be ball joints. Could also be tie rod ends, track bar, or even steering stabilizer.

You're going to have to get under there and have a look see.

Loose shock mounts, or bad shocks could do that as well.

I have 40K on my 05 and took my tire in to get rotated and a front end alignment. . The tire place said my ball joints are shot so he couldn't align it. think it was like 560 fro replacement ball joints... ... Don't suppose their covered under 7 year/70 thousand warranty?? Right... ... ... ... ... .

705. 00 for all 4 aint to bad cause its a bugger to do it in the driveway and you still need front alignment done.

Isn't the suspension on an 05 with 50K still under warranty?

I don't think so. The 7/70 is the powertrain warranty, so trans, t-case, driveshafts and axles but not suspension parts. Those would have been under the 3/36 bumper to bumper portion that obviously expired already. A quick call to any dealer would get you the answer but I am pretty sure the above is correct.

Think of them as hinge pins that your front wheels turn around. Here's a photo of one (not from our trucks... it's on a Hummer) that's pretty clear.

Ball joints on our trucks are notorious for going bad. I pd $92 each for uppers and $74 each for lowers at the dealer, took a little under 4 hours in the driveway. You have to have a press imo.

Are there greasable joints available at all (MOOG)?

Yes, there are joints with grease fittings available through Moog. They're adjustable.

Mickey - didn't even pay attention to the fact that they're greasable in the photo! I just grabbed the first image result that was clear.

I have a 03 and mine went bad at 40k then at 80k the balljoints and knuckle had to be replaced. The first time the dealer ate the cost (I paid a 200. 00) second time i had a local shop replace eveything with moog. I have 110k and still going strong.

The fleet I maintain often buys OEM suspension parts, and they are always going bad. Unless there's no choice, it'll be aftermarket for me. I don't like the adjustables though- tricky to install.
