I'm considering installing the Banks power pack and want to use my own guages (SPA). Their pyro plugs into thier Automind. The simplest way would be to leave my guages alone and drill and tap the manifold to install their probe.

Any problems you can see doing this?

usually the sending units, probes and guages have matching electrical and electronic charactristics and since there is no standard as to what impedance the probes and guages should match so every manufacturer has their own matching values,in my opinion if you are using SPA might as well use their sending units and probes. but you can still experiment and see how it works. #ad

Scooby, if I'm not mistaken the pyro sender goes to the Automind then from there to the gauge, who knows what happens in the Automind but Banks. I would give Banks a call and ask about using your Spa's on the Automind. I don't see a problem installing another sender in the manifold, I've heard of it being done to monitor the EGTs on the other three cylinders.

If another sending unit (thermocouple) is added to the manifold Stay at least 2" shy of the other I have red nightmares about these Cast manifolds splitting in two once they have reached normal opperating temp from the added stress of dissimalar metals expanding and contracting. Be careful. Use only the banks I have it installed on the inward half of the manifold (side closest to firewall)I think two inches shy of the turbo flange. stuff a rag deep inside the manifold first so when you pull it out the chips come with it.

Thanks for the help - I'm visiting Banks today to see if they can't answer this. Ideally I'd like to use one probe. I have found a dual probe that has two K connectors (one I could run to my SPA's and the other to the AutoMind) but I don't thing the AutoMind uses the same connector nor length of "wire" which would probably affect the performance/calibration of the Automind.

Hmmmm... I'll post more if I find the solution today.
