Banks gauge set?

I received a BANKS Dyna fact pyrometer and boost gauge for Christmas. I have read numerous threads in the archives about proper installation procedure, but the majority of products were Auto Meter. I was wondering if anybody that uses a Banks gauge is happy with them. Should I return these and get others. Any feed back on good gauge would be a great help.

In general, there's nothing wrong with the Banks products, although they are generally more expensive than comparable products from other vendors. I had them on my 96 for two years before I had a problem with the Pyro, I have only had my ISSPRO gauge for about 7 months and am having trouble with it. Pyro gauges will take the most abuse (next to senders for electric FP gauges). The installation should be no different for a Banks than any other, except a few differences in the connections.



One thing to consider though- Banks has a limited number of gauge options, and if you intend on adding additional gauges you will limit yourself to what you can get in that style. You might be better off exchanging the gauges for Autometer or Isspro, or any of the other manufacturers that off a full line of gauges.

I personally think the Banks gauges look "cheap". Not saying that they are, just how I think they look. If you are happy with them then put 'em in. The previous post did bring up a good point though.

Use them. I've had Banks gages since the truck was new. I had Banks install the exhaust and trans. I didn't trust myself to install the exhaust probe, and they were the only ones I knew that were close by and knew diesels. Knowing that it isn't rocket science, I do it myself now. I installed a Banks boost. All are on a pillar mount, and I used red backlight as they are easier on my eyes at night. The only gage that isn't Banks is my digital fuel pressure gage. I had to mount it down by the accelerator and wanted something that was easy to read, and I only have to look at numbers not a gage moving up and down. If you have an auto, install a trans temp, if not mount a fuel pressure gage on a triple pillar mount. Anyway, use the gages.

dclassens, first off welcome Im a rookie too, and let me tell ya this web site rules. Im no genious but I do know gauges. I have 14 AutoMeters installed in various things I own. I love them and will never turn back. Look at guys profiles I would say most have the AutoMeters. I too think the Banks are kinda goofy lookin but that all stems from personal preference. My wife hates red I like it... get my drift. If you can wait a while trade for the AutoMeters Im sure you wont regret it. Try if you can, to install them yourself... . saves money... . Youll learn tons. Plus all these guys, including myself will help you through. There are tons of pics and procedures for installing. P. S. Fill out your profile so we know what to advise you on... . Banks gauges in my 3500 since '95 with no problem. They are made by Isspro.

After 94, Banks pyro is Isspro. Before 94 was Datacom. That's what they told me!

I agree with fmj--use the Banks gauges. They work & stand behind their product. Make sure you have all the necessary hardware for the install. I just hate it when a part is missing!!!
