If the CFM+ is so good why won't you warrantee it for competition use :confused: . I don't see myself spending almost 400. 00 for an intake and it not being warranteed if I drag race or sled pull. I like the design, but the price seems about twice what I would be willing to pay for it. Just my . 02

I think some competition guys are not willing to take responsibility for their actions . To quick to point the finger. I'm sure this is boiler plate disclaimer and you would be advised to do the same thing if it was your biz.

Don't know what FAST makes their gas engine manifolds out of but for the performance diesel market ABS wouldn't be good. The advanced engineering composite the CFM+ is made out of has much higher temp and strength.

Real life performance report with CFM Plus

Hey Guys (and Gals)... I bought one of the CFM Plus intakes immediately and installed it easily in about 30-40 minutes. I am running in the 12's with my 2005 2500 quadcab 4wd and found no difference in ET or mph with manifold. I also drive my truck daily and found no changes. It looks like a well built product, but after discussing the importance of the intake manifold on boosted diesels with a few people, there seems be significant doubt that the intake manifold provides much of a weak link as the air is being forced in. I was hoping to see some gain, but really found none. So, now I have a fairly expensive pretty intake :-laf . Just my humble opinion, hope it helps...

Seems that one would need to increase turbo size, increase intercooler size, increase intake size, change out the exhaust manifold, and run a larger exhaust to see a measureable and noticeable difference. It does no good to increase intake size if everthing else stays he same.

I have upgraded turbo, exhaust manifold, intercooler, etc. Exhaust is stock 4" except straight pipe. I didn't notice any difference... The only way I know to run 12's without upgrades is to invest in a dragster to push you... :-laf

I too purchased the CFM+ the week they came out. During daily driving you will not notice an egt reduction. However, while climbing around a few hills that would normally hit 1000degrees, they were reduced down to about 800-850 degrees. This is with a stock IC and turbo. I am pleased with it.
 
I know the flow bench. I know they work well on naturally aspirated engines. but how to compare that to forced induction? plastics, don't bother me dads buick has one with over 250,000 miles.

The CFM+ Manifold flows 15% more air than an ATS on a precision flow bench, 20% more than Banks and 44% more than the stock manifold under the same exact parameters. The ATS manifold does have two of the long mounting studs passing thru the air flow and is one of the major reasons for its reduced flow.

WUnderwood I hope you would be willing to say we gave you excellent service and refunded your money immediately without question but you didn't even have a chance to try the manifold. IMHO... . these flow numbers really don't mean anything on a bench with respect to increasing the airflow ON YOUR TRUCK. Lets see some numbers installed on the engine (certified dyno numbers with this part ALONE and everything else stock). Yes... the part ALONE may flow better by itself on a bench, and so will a 8" round intake hose vs. the ~ 2 1/2" hose we currently have. Installing that 8" hose between your intercooler and intake WILL NOT increase your overall flow to the engine just because it by itself flows tons of air. There are other restrictions, like the intercooler itself, air filter, turbo limitations, and the ports going into the combustion chamber, etc. etc. etc.



This is only a small factor in the overall operation. Unless you plan on looking at the WHOLE intake design (filter to head), changing out 1 part will not get you, and I quote, "44% better flow". You need to revamp/rework your WHOLE intake to see any gains.



I just gets me when manufacturers make statements like "44% better flow" becaue people take them out of context and are made to believe they are increasing their intake flow by 44% by using their part alone.



Besides..... these intakes are under pressure (30 - 40 psi) so airflow is less of a factor than, for example, a non-turbo/non-supercharged engine.

Exactly... ..... if you want to use flow numbers bolt the intake to a head with exhaust manifold and flow the combination to test for the real improvement in flow. Then dyno to show the true gain in hp.

If they did get on the forum and defend their product,... people would say "me thinks ye protest toooo much" and they would lose credibility. Or, if they slammed the other product, then people would think, "why didn't they take the high road instead of resorting to slamming the other product".

Check out cfmplus.com, best intake made out of composite material, heat transfer is 600 times more resistant than aluminum ( keeps intake airflow temps cooler than aluminum ), smooth inside wall, largest volume capacity with out internal obstructions ( banks ), highest flowing of them all, comes with all gaskets & hardware, easy install looks & works great. :D

I wish I would have known about your product before I bought my Banks manifold. Not that there is nothing wrong with the Banks manifold over the stock unit, but I can see your product is the one to get. Material and design on the CFM+ is the way to go. Drag racers use wood and phonolic between the manifold and carbs to insulate from heat build up.



Is there any trade in (deal) to get me to remove my Banks manifold and buy your unit ? Does not hurt to ask.
 
It would seem to me that an improvement would to change out the balck rubber hoses connecting all the bits together for the blue silicone ones and smooth out the flow from turbo to IC to balck tube to intake... they supposedly run cooler and have smooth insides... i changed my intake side to the coolhose [http://www.psmbuick.com/products_Intake_tube.asp] and the cold air intake kit [http://www.psmbuick.com/products_dcais0304wfog.asp]...i did notice a difference... nothing i can prove on a dyno, it was a gut feeling and hearing it as it works... also i changed out the exhaust to 4" all the way using a Stan's exhaust in WA state. That made another difference... all together there has been an increase in mileage of 1. 5 mpg... colder denser air makes a difference and smooth flow would help... so wouldn't the black stock hoses replaced be a cheaper solution, when you are not going after massive power, but staying within limits to make towing and daily driving better? Does anyone know if kits are available for all the hoses? Capt PJ



BTW, I sent back a Diablo power puck after 3 attempts by them to get it right! They certainly did try. Problem was on the 50hp setting the truck stumbled while accellerating and at 90 hp setting it seemed to be gone, but I didn't want to run the 90 all the time, as I want the transmission to last a bit longer... until I can do a swap, maybe a DTT as they are in my backyard. Anybody had similar issues with Diablo?



2004 3500 dually quadcab all stock except for what I mentioned.
