anyboby see gale on exteme 4x4,i've always boycotted banks but that intercooler intake system minus the turbo looked pretty interesting, any know of a price or were to find that stuff. its not on there website?

I seen it looked pretty good?!?How'd you like the varible turbo? No lag!!

Big Gale claims 500hp & 1,000lds torque.

It all sounds good till he hits you with the price?

I would guess close to $4k?

Bob

the turbo doesnt exite me im not a huge fan of electronics, one more thing to glich and take a s@#t,i liked the exhaust manifold and everything else though

The 500hp was at the flywheel  it was around 450 to the wheels. Remember always, especially when dealing with Banks, read the fine print and ask lots of questions ;) !I think A. T. S. 's new turbo once perfected is going to be the one to go with! They said it would probably be around $2200 with a manifold.

Did you notice they had to make the exhaust manifold bolts smaller to fit that turbo? OUCH!

I liked the bit about the KORE Baja truck...

And why is that suprising? Most aftermarket, and EVERY OEM manufacturer companies make claims from the flywheel, not at the wheels. A safe, bolt on setup that runs 500 HP and 1000 ft/lbs is impressive, regardless.

I still don't understand the hatred for Banks. If it wasn't for banks, their might not even be turbos on light duty diesel trucks.

anestech:

FYI, the turbocharger was developed before WWII to boost power

for ship diesels and by WWII for aircraft engines. If you reference

the book "The Diesel Odyssey of Clessie Cummins" written by Lyle

Cummins, you will find that Cummins made an entry in the 1952

Indianapolis 500 of a Kurtis-Kraft designed car with a 401 cubic

inch TURBOCHARGED diesel which set a track record of 139 MPH.

Later they were put into diesel trucks. While Gale Banks may have

made a "contribution" to the development process, I would hardly

give him all the credit, even though he would like everyone to

believe he conceived, developed and implemented all of the

progress on diesel truck engines!

My theory?

I'm on the anti - Banks Bandwagon and plan to stay there. Arguments can be made for either side, but my own experiences tell me alot, and others experiences tell me more. As for my own, 2002 cummins HO bought a Banks Brake for it. Was Junk! Just to make it useable I sent them back the Brake Controller thingy (CBC?) and told em it was the dumbest thing to put on a brake. Also, others who drove my truck claimed their BD or Packbrake or Jacobs had more holdback. And the Banks was the more expensive brake!!

Now the six gun w/speed loader - "Quick and Easy Install" is written on the box. I got 2 words for ya. . . . B S !! Second, says UP TO 125. Read the fine print . . . With recommended airflow improvements. Ok, now, my truck. My sig says what I got. I should see 125 hp, right? Not on the Banks system. According to their website dyno graphs, 115 was what you get fully loaded. I don't buy it. My truck ran stronger with an EZ, and got better mileage too. Mileage with the banks dropped about 2 MPG at cruise, not wot. It surges, runs rough, runs hot at cruise speed ( 65-75) and man is it a cranky, noisy, unhappy son of a gun when its cold. Don't plan on any quick traffic movements till REALLY warmed up cause this thing will just blow smoke, make things rattle and knock, and thats about it. You ain't goin nowhere fast. And thats not to say I start the truck and hammer it, but after 10 to 15 minutes in traffic I expect to be worm enough to hammer it if I need/want to.

Basically, my opinion, Banks is ALOT of money for a MINIMAL return along with WAY to many controls built into the system. Drop the price, allow the driver to control it, to whatever end, and stand behind the product hands down, and I might be interested in something they build. But until their customer service reaches the likes of edge products, no flippin way! Just the opinion of someone who has been there. . . .

Every single thing you said is what I experienced with their pee shooter. The rough idle, the pulsing feeling you get going down the road. Even letting it warm up in the drive way it woudl shut the truck off on it's own. Took forever to warm up. I'd litterly get in my truck and wonder if it was going to work that day. I also saw zero improvement the mileage. I don't have the experience with it as you do. My truck blew-up on the 2nd month of it installed.

Matt:

I LOVE your first statement; "Every single thing you said is what I

experienced with their "pee shooter!" :-laf Good idea, change the

name from "Speed Loader" to "Pee Shooter!" :D

Yeah Matt, it looks like there is more people having problems than just

you! ;) I watched that second show (the continuing "saga" of the

Banks Buildup on the 2005) and got a kick out of watching Gale Banks

get on camera AGAIN while in the black 2004-2005 Dodge CTD CR and

say; "It's stacked (Banks Six-Gun/Speedloader) with power and a ton

of safety features!" Really??? Sure didn't apply in your or "Diesel Nut's"

case!!
