My theory?
I'm on the anti - Banks Bandwagon and plan to stay there. Arguments can be made for either side, but my own experiences tell me alot, and others experiences tell me more. As for my own, 2002 cummins HO bought a Banks Brake for it. Was Junk! Just to make it useable I sent them back the Brake Controller thingy (CBC?) and told em it was the dumbest thing to put on a brake. Also, others who drove my truck claimed their BD or Packbrake or Jacobs had more holdback. And the Banks was the more expensive brake!!
Now the six gun w/speed loader - "Quick and Easy Install" is written on the box. I got 2 words for ya. . . . B S !! Second, says UP TO 125. Read the fine print . . . With recommended airflow improvements. Ok, now, my truck. My sig says what I got. I should see 125 hp, right? Not on the Banks system. According to their website dyno graphs, 115 was what you get fully loaded. I don't buy it. My truck ran stronger with an EZ, and got better mileage too. Mileage with the banks dropped about 2 MPG at cruise, not wot. It surges, runs rough, runs hot at cruise speed ( 65-75) and man is it a cranky, noisy, unhappy son of a gun when its cold. Don't plan on any quick traffic movements till REALLY warmed up cause this thing will just blow smoke, make things rattle and knock, and thats about it. You ain't goin nowhere fast. And thats not to say I start the truck and hammer it, but after 10 to 15 minutes in traffic I expect to be worm enough to hammer it if I need/want to.
Basically, my opinion, Banks is ALOT of money for a MINIMAL return along with WAY to many controls built into the system. Drop the price, allow the driver to control it, to whatever end, and stand behind the product hands down, and I might be interested in something they build. But until their customer service reaches the likes of edge products, no flippin way! Just the opinion of someone who has been there. . . .
