Did you or anyone that you know purchase a Banks Power system, and if you had a problem, then found that your factory warranty has been voided!!!!!

According to the Banks Power- Sales info that I received before purchasing, it stated that their systems will not void your factory warranty!!!!!, but D/C voids warranty and Banks will not back-up with what I have in print from them.

If you have had this challenge please contact me!!!

Looking at recent Sales info from Banks, it appears that they no longer make this claim, Maybe since I started to pursue this back in Jan. 03'

A legal Suit is pending.

Rod,good luck in your quest for justice. I have for years hated the false advertising done by Banks. They are known for making claims that cant be substaintiated. I was told on the phone by a banks rep that my stock trans would hold up to a banks powerpack, there E brake, and controller, with no mods and without voiding my warranty If it sounds to good to be true it usually is. What gets me,is Chrysler has a TSB specifically targetting pump wire tap boxes(which the banks ottomind is one of),and right there in black and white it states that pumps with nicked,or marked pump wires are not warrantable. Yet Banks continued to tell potential customers the warranty was still intact, and they would back the customer in the event of a claim. I hope you get fair compensation for your time, repair bills, lost warranty, and false advertising.

EEk Rod that's a TOUCHY TOUCHY subject. You will hear things that range from "You CHOSE to alter your vehicles performance and want D/C to Repair what was in term damaged by your choice"

To

"You ARE your OWN warantee Station"

This was hashed out a while back and sure people threw in the Magnuson Moss Act.

However I do Hope you get squared out!

Shame that first post is a bummer one!

I went through this with Banks and Chrysler last summer. Installed a powerpack and less than 2000 miles later I lost the transmission..... in the middle of nowhere. Chrysler roadside service took the truck 80 miles to the east and a very nice towing company owner used his own truck to take my RV camper, trailer, and family to a campground 20 miles to the west.

As soon as the tow truck arrived at the dealer I was told that they hadn't unloaded the truck yet but they saw the Banks gauges and the warranty would be voided #@$%!. I called Banks, they called the dealer to no avail. Banks told me that this dealer was not open to any negotiation and I should just pay the bill and deal with CD when I got back home. They said they would help.

Once at home CD told me to deal with the dealer of purchase. The dealer of purchase was helpfull for about 2 weeks and then I heard nothing. I called back about 3 weeks later and discovered that the helpfull service manager had been fired. The new service manager said if I do anything to the truck I'm on my own. No warranty. :-{}

I again contacted Banks to take them up on their offer for help. They wrote a letter stating basically '. . we don't think chrysler should have voided your warranty... . hope this helps... ' . That was it. I went back to their (Banks') website and discovered that the warranty claims had been removed.

Bottom line was that without significant financial resources to pursue either CD or Banks in court I'll I could do is let it go.

I eventually bought ANOTHER transmission (ATS stage IV) so I could use my camper and trailer again without fear of a breakdown. Nothing like buying TWO NEW TRANSMISSIONS IN A 9 MONTH PERIOD :{ :{ . It was either that or by a new truck (this time not a Chrysler product).

If you would like copies of any of my paperwork let me know.

It's not just a DC problem, Furd and GM void warranty left and right for mods too. Hot rodding is not covereded by ANY car manufacturer.

OK maybe they shouldnt have advertised that yer warranty will stay intact

BUT

I had a very good experience with BANKS

I got the same letter that u did and I threw it away

Just think about it

If u made a product and sold it to millions of people , would u want someone modifying it and then make u pay for fixing problems that occured after the modification

(MORE POWER = BROKEN TRANY)

in 99 I put their kit on

It did exactly what they told me it would

It did "allow"me to rip out my clutch

"good , I didnt need that one anyway"

It did not cause a stumble problem in my 24 valve

It ran smooth and had better power than my current set up

people call me a liar for telling them this but "I AM THE ONLY ONE WHO DRIVES MY PICKUP" so I guess no one else will ever know

in 2000 I believe they detuned the kit a bit

but I was very happy with the kit I had

Tom Boardman was the guy I talked to and he treated me very well

I even referred a few people to him and no complaints

I have had more problems with customer service from a vendor that many of you frequent and IMHO I will never call that vendor again. I have already removed their product from my vehicle

However, I will not participate in bashing someone unless they really deserve it

good luck with your quest but I think it will only get ugly

I just bought my truck 3 weeks ago, and it had the Banks Power Pack already installed in it. I asked the salesman if I was going to have any problems with the warrentee b/c of this, and he said "Absolutly not! it was installed the right way by us" That I think is a little surprising. I would hate to go back for warrentee service one day and they tell me it was voided. The truck is in for transmission problem right now. I guess I will know soon...

That is NO JOKE!!,, be sure to do it that way.

That's why so many TDR Members hate Banks,,

They say one thing then do another,,also HP Claims and prices are a bit on the high side...

TDR Member illflem has a truck with a Banks on it, that he bought from the dealer also...

Sorry 'bout the warrenty,, Let us know what happens.

Yes !!!!

Our local dealer used to install Banks (they no longer do... siting part availability issues). Currently they install BD and Suncoast as well as other aftermarket mods. Their policy is that if they installed it, it will not void the warranty (as long as you come to them). The trouble is things never break close to home. In that case your on your own... ... .

Well, call me stupid but I didn't get anything in writing saying that it wouldn't void the warranty. This was my first vehicle I bought and I have made stupid errors, learned, and still learning. I might try to still get it. I only bought it 3 weeks ago. As far as the dealer installing the banks kit, that is what I was told. I find it surprising myself.

As MCummings said my truck came brand new with a Banks on it, never had a warranty problem at any dealer. In fact a dealer other than whom I bought it from even replaced the injection pump while throwing parts at a fuel problem (real problem was a fuel line). Dodge tech had to call Banks for instructions on switching the Banks cam plate with the stock one in the new pump. That was in '95 though, things change.

banks warranty

Thanks for everyones input, yes its my first posting, I didn't learn of TDR until after the Banks issues arose, So this is why my first posting is a bummer!!!. By the way I love driving my truck when I can, but I drive an ugly company Astro Van during the day, which is why my milage low (42k on a 99') the plus side is that the truck always feels new to me :D .

Again if you or anyone else has been "brushed off" by Banks Power please contact me!!!!!

Yep, there are at least two in So Cal I know of that are doing it. However, BOTH of them make you sign a waiver that if the power modifications are responsible for component failure, the failed components will not be covered. They DO NOT void your entire warranty though.

Banks

Most of the problems from using Banks Power, or any other aftermarket power enhancers, is trans/clutch failure. Some dealers MIGHT honor the warranty and repair these failures. The law doesn't require them to do it. The failure IS related to the modification ( and our heavy right foot). SEMA is constantly battling the manufacturers regarding warranty and aftermarket stuff. A good info link:

I just put the Banks power pac and ebrake in my 97 and know the auto trans will be fried soon. I did the mods after my DC warranty ran out. Swapping fuel plates can cancel the Cummins 100k warranty DTT has the fix for the transmission issue. Problem is bending of the truth claims by the aftermarket dealers.

I ordered and took del of my Ram in 1997. Almost no problems except steering wander and strange brakes. Fixed steering and EGR really made brakes top notch. When installing the power pac I replaced the exhaust manifild with an ATS unit. First noticed egt running almost 200 deg less than before and the engine is quieter in the cab. The exh manifold stays very cool at idle. While off the truck some nasty man ran a 2" speed bit thru the cat several times. Since we did the work on Sunday I put it back together with a defective cat. The quieter cab surprised me, but it is very noticeable. The exhaust has a very heathly sound outside.
