Banks Update

Things are going So So, Since my Lawyer has been involved Banks is now talking, they have admitted no wrong doing in their advertising claims but have so far proposed to pay for all of my out-of-pocket repair expenses, and to credit me back the cost for the power pack tlc kit once it is returned to them.

This settlement would have been great before but I had to get a Lawyer involved to get to this point, so now the lawyer fee's are involved but under the law I have a right to also recop those loses as well if I win my case, should this actually go to court!!!

I've learned alot about my truck in a short amount of time thanks to the TDR members, If only I had known about TDR sooner!!!!

Once this is resolved... ... . I sense a EZ and 275's

Sorry man no words of sympathy here. You play you pay. Do you believe every piece of advertising you hear. But at the same time i can appreciate the fact that all banks power really is, is an advertisting firm. And if that is the business they wish to be in, they best back it up.

I wonder how many Banks sales have been made becuase that little bit of, well, false information?

"Will not void your warranty. "

In my opinion, if Banks wants to make sales will false claims, then they pay.

It sucks that TDR is still relatively unknown among many CTD buyers. Earliest possible TDR membership can help a lot!

I can't believe we still see posts like the lead posts. Goes to show that not everyone lives in our world of info. We TDR folks are just a tiny minnow in the HUGE pool. Banks is SO well known, many people don't know that there are MANY, BETTER, CHEAPER options. Dealers often know of "turning up" a CTD" but FEW know that anything beyond Banks exists in this arena.

Sorry that your warranty is dead. Sorry you paid too much for Bank$ stuff. Sorry that you didn't come across TDR sooner. TDR saves a lot of people a lot of headaches.

Getting rid of your warranty will be the best thing that ever happened to you in the long run. Now you can personalize the truck without worry.

I really hope that you have a good resolution to this. As always, BUYER BEWARE. Or, as I say, the Buck stops with spender of said Buck.

You spends your money, you takes your chances. Good luck. Your fellow TDR members will help you out in any way we can.

It really is true about people not knowing about the TDR. I think we all need to get that back page copied and started putting them under windshield wipers.

Rod, I wish you luck and hope this does not cost you a dime. About the other Dodge owners that need to read the TDR. I know several and the way they treat their trucks it is a miracle they run at all. Example, guy bought new CTD in 2000, I'm talking to him in 2003 and he has close to 40K miles on his truck and he has never changed his fuel filter. Why, because he never took it back to the dealer for service or read the owners manual. Alway took it to Walmart, they installed fram oil filters in his truck and hopefully used diesel lube oil. This guy is a retired executive from a fortune 500 company (should not be this stupid). Makes you wonder what the average vehicle goes through and how it survives

Lets see, One million Cummins built for Dodge, and what? Less than 25,000 TDR members?

Robert definately has room for growth.

Can you imagine 250,000 members on this site?

Steve would be hauled away to the looney bin!;)

maybe almost settled

Just an update: It's looking like this may be settled in the next couple of weeks, with all of my out-of-pocket expenses paid for and the lawyer fees, but keep in-mind this is still "subject to change".

Banks problems?

It's unfortunate that you are having difficulty with warranty issues. When I researched the Banks Power Pack I walked away with an understanding that the kit will not (in and of itself) void the warranty simply because it is installed. It was pretty clear that should a part fail due to the increase in power, I was on my own. The same holds true for any of the after market do dads we throw on the beasts to improve performance. I've seen a lot of Banks bashing and, quite honestly, I think a lot of it is hogwash. I have recently had a warranty issue that I needed to pursue with Banks and thanks to top notch people like Jeff Strenkowski, my problem is being taken care of. I sure hope your issues get resolved, but I personally wouldn't hesitate for a moment to recommend the Banks products. Good luck :D

I don't think he was knocking Banks product just the understanding of it's impact on his factory warranty.

"According to the Banks Power- Sales info that I received before purchasing, it stated that their systems will not void your factory warranty!!!!!, but D/C voids warranty and Banks will not back-up with what I have in print from them. "

From what I have read only DC can make this claim to a "part" they put on your truck, (since it is their warranty)

I hear ya

My point is that the Banks kit does not void the warranty. But if I add 100 HP to the engine and the transmission goes, don't blame Banks. That's the price to play. If you buy the truck to embrace the warranty, you better not do any power modifications. If a dealer balks at a warranty issue because I have a Banks kit on my truck and the warranty issue is not caused by the power increase, I'd have to say it's time to find another dealer..... or maybe write it out in crayon so he understands. :D

the warrantee provided by the manufacture covers what they designed, tested, and assembled. if you want to be your own warrantee station then that's fine. but when you change their design and expect, or try to get them to fix it well don't feel disapointed when they tell you sorry, you should have read your warrantee first before you made the changes.

Banks

Dodge dealer in San Jose, on Capitol Expressway, installs Banks. They do several a month and told me mine did not void the warranty. I didn't upgrade until after the warranty expired on transmission, but this dealer installs on new trucks and older models.

Know 2 owners, 1995 manual and 1996 auto, have been running their power packs since new. Both are way over 100k miles and neither has any transmission/clutch problems. Banks is not a big bomb and both owners have light right feet. They tow 13k pound trailers all the time. Its hard to keep the right shoe calm when the Cummins is running so good, but they do.

Not a big Bomb?

Hey JTW, for the record their Banks may not have been a big bomb, but when I threw the Power Pack in mine the difference was HUGE! I didn't dare do the DDII's until I saw Bill K at DTT. That's just my 2 cents and, well, I like to blow a lot of SMOKE!!!!! Haaaaaa, later! :D

True, about the difference with the Banks.

I did the install in 2 parts. about 3 weeks before I started the IAT set a code and I replaced it, man, a total ball of soot. I blocked the vac to the egr and started getting a big puff of smoke when taking off.

The first step was the exhaust system. Installed ats manifold, Banks Brake, turbo housing and the cat back exhaust. Ran a speed bit thru the cat. What a difference this made. Smoke gone and cruising at 70+ very quiet in cab. The engine just sounded and acted better. Waited 2 weeks to do fuel.

Then I put the ram air and fuel plate in. The cover was all the way back and the plate wasn't even halfway forward in factory setup. I put everything in the same way, don't want to fry transmission yet. The truck really runs better, a totally different feel and the Cummins sounds very happy. Idle is smooth and no clatter. Still noisy but thats a diesel. When I removed the factory intake the problem with the egr was clear. The entire unit was fuel of soot plugging the vac line for turbo boost. Used a shop vac to clean the intake.

I was considering a 2003 but the Banks was cheaper and wanted to see what it did firsthand. Well worth the money and will drive the 97 a few more years. Injectors are next after DDT.
