TWO WEEKS AGO I INSTALLED BANKS POWERPACK ON MY 1999 1TON. I HAVE HAD transmission PROBLEMS BEFORE THIS BUT NOW I LOST MY OVERDRIVE AT SPEEDS OVER 50MPH!!! THE KIT HAS YOU TAP INTO THE transmission COMPUTER WIRING ON THE PASSANGER SIDE FIRE WALL. IF I PLUG INTO THIS WIRE MY transmission SLIPS BADLY (1900RPM TO 2600RPM TRYING TO KEEP A SPEED OF 70MPH,FLAT ROAD WITH NO LOAD!) WITH THE WIRE UNPLUGGED, THE transmission DOSN'T SLIP BUT I HAVE NO OVERDRIVE AT SPEEDS OVER 50. WWHATS GOING ON? I'M TAKING HER IN FOR SERVICE ON WEDNSDAY MORNING. ANY ADVICE ON WHAT TO HAVE THE TECH GUYS LOOK FOR OR DO? THANKS

Have the folks at Banks been of no help to you?

I was just at their shop last week and it seems like a quality outfit.

The guys at Banks have been given me some advice, but don't seem to understand my problem. It's starting to look like I'm the only one with a problem of this kind. They do seem eger to help me sort ot this glitch. If they follow through and see this problem out,I'd give them a grade of B+.

my truck is going in for service tomorrow. A diffrent dealership is going to give me a second opinion/fix. banks told me to have them check TSB:18-02-99 I guess that is irritac torque conveter/ clutch operation. I hope it gets fixed. friday morning i'm driving down to south florida!! It's a 1500 mile drive from conn. It will seem like 15,000 miles if I'm worring about my transmission making the trip! banks wants me to send in the ottomind computer so they can test that. its not to conveient for me seeing I'll be without a truck for as long as it takes to send out,test, and return that computer! banks should send me a diffrent computer and i'll go from there!!!

My Y2k+1 had 8,000 on it when I installed the powerpack and it is hard to tell but MAKE SURE THE WIRE TAP IS ON THE #11 WIRE on the connector look at the manual and verify that you used the CENTER(white)COMPUTER CONNECTOR. Just here to give you double check values----no harm.

This morning, getting on the freeway, I didn't shift into OD until I hit 50. I do have a DTT valve body (with "late" shift points, though).

Could this problem not be with the AutoMind computer from Banks? Or does that box just read from your truck's computer?

I have a friend who works at Banks (in sales). I would suggest calling Banks again and talking to the dude that sold you the system. You can explain (in some nicer words) that you are on the TDR and your less-than-wonderful-experience has already made some memebers reconsider purchasing a system. And that they are watching this thread closely to see how Banks ensures customer satisfaction.

I've checked several times, and i did tap the orange and black wire. even with the blue banks wire disconnected, the truck still dos'nt have overdrive. In fact, it operates better without the blue wire connected. I've disconnected all the banks ottomind connections,(except the map sensor), and i still don't have overdrive. the more I look into it,I think its a dodge problem,not banks!! dodge is giving me a hard time about my warranty, now the powerpack is installed,although I did purchase the ADI extended warranty. I should be haering from that other dealer soon. i hope they fixed the problem. Thanks for the advise!
 
If you tapped into the od wire instead of the lock-up wire you will not have od. I agree with the toolman check your wire connection. Orange with black tracer is the lock-up wire or simpley disconnect and is if od works. You should also note the more the power the later the shifts. Tsb 18-02-99 is also possible

Put it this way, The power pack FEELS like twice the fun Real #'s in fuel mileage is the SWEET deal I average NO LIE 26. 4 MPG all week long week to week day to day highway. CT is in no way flat so the deal is in my eyes real. With my brake mod for '01 disc brakes I can ROLL ON a seccond to third gear burnout (video soon( So safe to say ... ... LOVE IT.
