Has anybody dynoed an 03 HO with a six gun/speed loader and 4" exhaust with a BHAF. What do I have? A guy at Diesel Dynamics just told me that I only gained 49 HP and 100LB torque "and showed me the dyno. He said that the banks system is so benine that I did not need a booster fuel pump because I was not fueling enough to need anything more than the stock lift pump. The guy at Banks could not give me a straight answer, he did not know how much power I had. Kinda made me feel punney and I wanted to suck my thumb. If I am going to "VOID MY WARANTY" I need to do it bigger than 49 HP! Whats the deal guys? Hit me :--)

The 105hp/245ftlb is only on an ETC (california model - with cat?) with "appropriate airflow and exhaust modifications". i. e. Banks 4" exhaust and intake, filter, etc. I think thier advertising is extremely misleading, at best. From all reports, an EZ will give you more power and its generally considered a mild box (and costs WAY less than a 6-gun). The biggest benefit of the Banks unit is the defueling function when it senses auto transmission slippage. I have a 6 spd, so I could care less about that. Do some searching, but so far I've heard reports of 15hp, 45hp and 49hp. Hardly enough to bother with.

I have an 03 HO 6 speed 373 geared HD 2500 with 4" exhaust and an Afe intake with all of the relevent gages. I took an EZ off and put on the Banks 6 gun w/ speedloader on and I can't tell a big difference between the ez and the six gun both on their higest levels. I have not dynoed yet but this truck with the six gun runs great and I am happy with the power. The best thing is I can turn it down to #3 setting and get the best milage but if I want to push it I just go to #6 and there is a big Performance change. They both feel the same when you get on em but I am still wondering if I need a pusher lift pump for the Banks system because it definatly uses more fuel on #6. Holley?

the 49/100 sounds about right on an HO.

We'd love to dyno your truck, and get a better database of HP gains for the Banks Six-Gun. Consider this a personal invitation to come see us. :) Monroe is not far from Edmonds...

I was told by the shop that installed my Banks equipment that the trucks with auto transmissions are showing very weak power increases due to the overkill on the Sixgun trans protection. I also believe that the most significant increases in power are seen on SO Cali models. I would like to see dyno numbers on my truck but I don't know anyone around here that would do it for me. I'm very happy with the increase in power especially for towing. Fuel mileage increased while towing... and there is no smoke.

I have an 04 with the Six Gun and i have some dyno numbers.

Stock I was at 226 hp and 683 torque.

On level six I was at 262 hp and 811 torque.

Not quite the advertised increases but very noticable. I had and Edge EZ and got rid of it for the Six Gun. I like the in cab adjustment and I think the power increase is better. The safety features built in are also nice.

Sorry but I could not help but tell this true story. In Houston Texas I was testing the TAG on a dyno at the time. Yes it is still in my truck because I like it. I do have some base numbers with my 03 HO six speed when it was welll!!, almost stock with an Aero turbine, 4" exhaust, a TAG and an Afe drop in filter with 4, 1" holes cut in the front of the stock air box. This was before either of the fueling boxes were tryed. With just 5500 miles on this new truck I was impressed and in my opinion, it was pretty darned strong. It sure wasn't 225 HP like I am reading in TDR. here lately. These #'s were taken with a Mustang brand name dyno and it was a very good multi run test. The tech guys were very savey. Best run, "almost stock" HP was 267 and torque was 502.

Without the fueling boxes this truck pulled an 11k lb 5 th wheel up some of the biggest mountains in the smoky's of Tenn. with out shifting to 5th except for just a few. I did not have guages at the time so I waited for the pyro before putting fuel boxes on. Now I wonder about some of these numbers that are being passed around because of maybe the itch to sell their products, naaw!. My rear tire pressures were 65 lbs (important) and there was a good strong fan blowing right at the grill and this truck was warmed up real good. That sounds pretty strong for just those previously mentioned mods but with either of the fueling boxes added on it performed seat of the pants real good. The EZ was set at the highest level and the pyro really climbed up there quick at WOT, under load, but so did the Banks. I am glad I waited for the gagues before trying out the boxes because I would have melted something in a hurry driving the way I did on that Tenn trip. I like the Banks because I don't want to run full high pressure on the rail all of the time and all I have to do is turn it up when I want to blow somebody away on a roll on. The Banks to me is worth it for reliability even though I have a 6 speed because when I pull my new 12klb 5th wheel I can tune in the best MPG and keep the exhaust temp under control. Some day when I want to throw away $120 for a second dyno then I'll publish the #'s. Anybody in Houston willing to pitch in would help. Both boxes are more than enough power to break something if you want to. I have a 325HP modified G 35 if I really want to burn up the road because it was designed for it. My two cents!

That sounds about right. My "almost stock" HO/48RE, with a Diesel Dynamics Jammer turbo, 4" exhaust, TAG, and aFe intake put down 288HP/546TQ. Keith rates his turbo at +25HP, so that would bring the numbers right in line with yours.

How much for the Turbo install and did it spool up and drive better than stock? The big question is did it help exhaust temperatures? I am in Houston so where is DD located? I'll look it up online and get the skinny but thanks for the real world reply!

http://www.dieseldynamics.com for the price/location info.

It's a larger turbo (16cm², I believe, vs. 9cm²), an HX-40, so it spools a little slower than the stocker, but you can't put 500HP through a stock turbo.

I can't comment on it's EGT reduction, because I installed the turbo before either of the fueling boxes. With the boxes turned up to 500HP, though, it's difficult to reach 1350°F. It takes an extended WOT run up to 100MPH or so to get there.

With your current Banks setup, a larger turbo isn't necessary. You've got the equivalent of an Edge EZ on level 3.

FYI Tom, it's not a 40... but close. It moves a little more air than a 40. Also, the housing is a 14cm2.
See? What the heck do I know? :)

I didn't mean to suggest it was a plain-jane HX-40, but it does start life out as one, right?

How's that bigger turbo coming along? I'm ready to buy when you guys are ready to sell. :D
