Well I finally bit the bullet and ordered the six gun w/o speed loader for my 04 ca so. The box came in yesterday and the installation went rather smoothly. Performance wise its like day and night!!It reminds me of when I put a supercharger on my 67 mustang!!Im very pleased. I considered the tst box but I have no need for that much power. I mainly tow so the Banks fit the bill perfectly.

The only minor problem I encountered was the connection to the trans solenoid. The manual says to use the t tap on the yellow w/orange stripe wire. Well there are 2 wires the same color!I called Banks and they said to use pin #1 which is the first yellow w/orange stripe wire. They are to revise the newer manuals or so Im told. Thanks for the hook up Dave!!!

Flores,

Thanks for the update. I have a Six Gun on order. Due to arive on friday! It's good to here positive news on the Banks product.

I like my Big Hoss and I'm only on #1(50HP) for now. EGT's are not a problem now so I plan on going to level 3 this summer. The straightpipe really helps the EGT's! They dropped over 100F at hithway speed. The noise is a bonus too!!!

Six gun for 04.5

I called Banks last night to order a Six Gun. (They are open until 6 PM PST) When they found out it was for a 04. 5 325/600 CTD, the tech put me on hold for a few minutes. When he came back he told me they had not released that model yet and to call back Monday as they are having an update meeting this Saturday. So there must be a difference.

Should I wait or order an Edge product?

I'm looking for a unit that can be removed with no sign it was there for dealer sevice visits.

FParlee,I understand your concerns about the warranty. There will be 3 t taps left that a good tech will probably spot when you take it in for warranty work. 2 on the trans solenoid harness and 1 on the ecm harness. The day after I installed mine I recieved the recall notice for the transmission line!!Go figure!!Im waiting for someone to post some part numbers for the recall. I may do it myself but if not Ill remove the harness/box and hope for the best.

For you guys with the auto trannys... I noticed last night and this morning that when I went up a grade and floored it it didnt fuel. The power remained basically stock. It didnt downshift either. Im thinking the banks box sensed a slipping t/c and defueled. It doesnt do it on the flats. I think Ill experiment with different speeds and grades, maybe even drop the box into position 5. Ill post my findings.

Btw The best price I could get from Banks was 657. 00 plu snh.

Talk to Dave at Diesel Power Products. He had them in stock as of last friday and his price was very competitive!!

really would like to see more feedback on six gun. i'm gonna order mine today. i was impressed with the monster exhaust i got from Banks, definitely a true 4" system and flawless install. i see alot of "Banks bashing" on this forum, mainly because of cost, but i'm a true believer in "you get what you pay for. " you can say what you want, but i want a box that's not gonna trip codes and is reliable. the new TST and the Edge EZ have too many posts with problems and codes, haven't seen one yet for the six gun. if the TST did't have all the posts with the codes i'd ordered it.

Mopar Mudder

i want a box that's not gonna throw me codes. i've seen numerous posts, lately the TST is having problems, but also for the Edge EZ throwing codes on the gen3. i'm not pro Banks by any means, but i'm interested in the problems with the six gun if anyone has experienced any. read alot on this forum and think it's the best around, but haven't seen any dislikes or dealer codes with the Banks six gun, except for the "cost. "

i'm just going by what i've read in the past couple months.

Well, its obvious from your post, you want something reliable, safe and something that still has the ability to make good power. I am in the same boat as you. I didnt find my money in the street don't need to be a guinea pig for products that have not even been out a month yet. Edge has the best customer service in my opinion. They make good products and it might be worth it to wait a little until the juice comes out to see how they all stack up against eachother. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but with the 6 gun, you have to tap into wires etc which may cause the dealer to cry foul on warranty work. Also the banks 6 gun from what I understand, raises rail pressure. Before you do any bombing, take your truck to the dealer and tell them you have ***tload of problems and get them to do as much warrant work as possible before you possibly become your own warranty station. Tell them the balljoints are loose, your alternator bracket is cracked, the truck steers to the right, you have a bad vibration, your powersteering hose leaks, your rear end whines etc etc
