Has anybody tried Banks Stinger package? That's the 4" exhaust,Engine calibration module, and wastegate actuator. Does anybody know what this calibration module does?

Dieselx, the "calibration module" as you refer to it is Banks' Ottomind computer module. The difference between the 24v Stinger and Stinger Plus packages is this: the Stinger Plus has a more aggressive Ottomind and their wastegated 14 cm2 turbine housing, the Stinger kit uses the Stinger wastegate actuator with the OE (12 cm2) turbine housing. . all other Stinger/Stinger Plus parts are identical. I just drove a '98. 5 24v equipped with the Banks Stinger package (AND 275 hp. Bosch injectors) on Friday. Although it performed very well, I would have to say my Ram felt stronger, ESPECIALLY in the lower RPM levels although, I would say it would be about even at roughly 2800-3200 rpm. See my signature below for the performance modifications I have made. I believe Ted (Jannetty) was/is correct in his assessment of the 12 cm2 turbine housing.

I have the Banks Stinger kit and I think it runs great! Huge differance in the truck especially pulling up the grades. Does not smoke at all even under full throttle. The only thing I don't care for is the "Drone" at 2100 rpm. It's too loud for me, some guys really like the extra sound. I called Banks a couple of days ago and told them I need to quiet the exhaust down. They said they will make me a prototype muffler to get rid of the noise and ship it to me. They said it would take their engineers a couple of weeks to work out the new muffler design as apparently there are other parameters to consider than noise. I bought Banks primarily for the service and "all in one" solution, so far I am very impressed. Good luck with your decision.

Lots of smoke you might say! #ad
See ya at the meetin'. Oh ya, on the topic,..... [censored].
