i have a issue with battery drain.

i don't use my truck every day. and i've noticed that the battery drains over a week or two below ten volts. once i found it down to less than 9 volts, over three weeks of non-use. i now place the truck on a charger when it drops below 10 volts. i've already had to replace my batteries last summer, due to this problem. charging system works well, except i do notice the volt meter doesn't always charge above 13 volts while driving. i figure the guage is computer controlled, as my after market guage reads normal when the dash reads low. i do unplug my after market guage unit when i'm not going to use my truck for a few days, as i found that it also will drain the batteries.

is this normal computer drain on the batteries???

thanks. .

Search links expire. Yes, you have to hook up an ammeter and pull fuses to locate the guilty circuit (and then find the defective part). The batteries should last a year or more but should be charged monthly if the truck is sitting.
