Howdy, all! When my automatic was swapped out in favor of the G-56, we also moved the exhaust-brake master switch from the column to the gear-shift lever, using the big switch that they sell. http://dieselperformance-0.shptron....manual-trans-shift-lever/exhaust-brakes?pp=25 At road-speed, with the system on (knob pulled) the stem vibrates and buzzes against its collar. Have any of you had that, and successfully silenced it? If so, how? If it would come off, I'd pull the knob off the stem, slide a straw down it, like a long bushing, and then put the knob back on, but, it seems like it'd break first.

you can force dielectric grease in beside the shaft to stop it. I forgot to order the switch on a new install and used a toggle switch while waiting for one to get in, I liked it so much I left it on. it is in the perfect location. I just added some leather

I know what you mean. I've had a similar issue since '98 with my US Gear Hi-Lo unit. I just have been using a rubber band around the shaft and the shifter and it works fine though I have to replace it periodically as the band rots. Your idea has merit using something to bush the shaft. The knob on my unit just screws off. You may have to hold the shaft with a pair of needle-nose pliers depending on how the switch is made. Instead of a straw, you may want to try a section of shrink tubing. I'll try that on mine, but the tolerance on my switch seems alot tighter than yours and may not be able to get it to fit. We try to keep a couple spare rubber bands in the glove box. It sure is irritating with that buzzing noise. Nice change out with the G56. I'm still using the NV4500, but the US Gear unit makes it really flexible.

I had a PacBrake on my previously owned 2000 3500 with the NV5600 six-speed transmission and used the same BD switch. It rattled and vibrated. Like you, I wrapped a couple of twists of a rubber band around it. It wasn't high tech, but very inexpnesive and kept the switch quiet thousands of miles.

I use a rubber band, works great,Monte

have done the rubber band. and had it rot off make me mad...

added on edit... .
well... . pulled the knob off ... didn't unscrew, just kind of broke off. #@$%! tried to push little blobs of dielectric grease down the gap... put the knob back on... still noisy. found some rubber grommets in one of my toolboxes. might see if one of'em's suitable tomorrow

On my 94 and my 03 I stretched a O ring over it. Took some trial and error to get the right size but once I did they worked good and would last for years,

Scored a rocker switch at AutoZone for about $5. Works good, no noise. Just feels funny for the next few days, I suspect.

The little round stem of the switch, plus a bit of shrink-tube, was the same diameter as the previous switch, so the clamp works as a mount-spot.

those don't look like they'll fit in the BD clamp that came with my original switch, but, down the page a little, on the "repairconnector" page, I saw a brass one that has a long-enough stem to do that way.

Ooops, mine is going to mount on the 1/4" stick mounted aluminum plate that comes with the Fleece Turbo Controller. They provide a sub-mini toggle switch and I am going to replace it with one of the lighted ones, probably the Hella. That brass pull switch is not a bad deal if it works for your placement.

The other option is we have a rocker style switch that mounts in the same location part number is 1030900 for 5/8 sticks or 1030910 for the 3/4 sticks. Geno's garage normall has them.

I liked having the B-D red push-pull switch on the gear shift for the questions I received. :D When an "uninformed" passenger would get into to my truck and see the switch, the first thing they would as is, "How did you get a 2-speed axle in your Dodge dually?" "I didn't know Dodge put a 2-speed axle in their dually trucks. ":-laf:-laf

How many people even know that a 2-speed axle ever existed? The first truck I ever drove ('40's vintage K-series International) had one, but, I was only 7, and couldn't fathom the instructions on the aluminum plate attached to the dashboard.

added on edit... . here's the same switch. the little indicator light doesn't seem to work. Maybe just not well-grounded. Guess what? My OCD isn't bad enough for me to worry about fixing it. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/ac...er-switch/_/N-2696?itemIdentifier=412560_0_0_
