BD Diesel Steering Box Stabalizer

Pro's and Con's on this unit? Has anyone used this kit? Is this kit really needed if one does not have any of the death wobble problems? I have an 05 3500 and have not had any problems as of yet with 70,000 miles. I am just looking at longevity of the truck and possibly catching a problem before it starts. Any comments would be appreciated.

I put one on my 06' for just in case. Had too many problems with the 96'. I know the frame and what not is totally different. Wasn't going to chance it. The BD unit goes on easy. I bought mine from 4Wheel Parts.

I'm not sure which brand stableizer I'v got but they are for the most part all the same design. You'l be very suprised how much flex there is in the frame rail that you eliminate with the stableizer kit.

Additionally, it provides an additional bearing on the Pitman shaft in a steering box that is marginal for a vehicle this size to begin with. Look at it as in investment in your steering box.

I installed another brand - Defiant, they are all pretty much the same, do the same thing, really made a difference, tightened the steering up. Well worth it.

Yes, money well spent. You will feel an immediate difference in the steering. I got the BD from Geno's.

i've heard that the solid steel one uses a tad bit thicker material than the bd... . i went with the ss from Peak ..... no problems

Put one (BD) on my 03 - made a huge difference in the tightness of the steering at high speed. It's especially evident when towing. This is one mod thats well worth the money.

I have the BD brand on my 2006 . The results you will feel are a steering system that seems to find center easier . It won't cure wander from other worn parts . I would buy this part again . It won't help fuel economy either

Have a Solid Steel Industries stabilizer on my '06, just got it back from my local specialist in frame straightening & alignments (and has done this since the late '40's - 2nd generation locally owned business), and my steering is still tight, tracks greatly, and still have 10/32" tread left on the original tires after 45K miles and is wearing perfectly flat across the tread. There was 15/32" tread depth originally when new. He also puts a lot of these SSI stabilizers on since I showed him mine on my '02 truck. All my friends and relatives with Dodges have them and wouldn't run w/o them on... .

I have the BD and quite frankly did not feel a whole lot of difference. I have had a slight pull to the right since the truck was new and was hoping this would cure that. If for no other reason, I like the support it provides the lower end of the steering box.



With that said, mine was not a bolt-in. The bolt holes in the stabilzer mounting plate did not line up with the truck. I had to do some filing to elongate the front holes to get it to work.

Another vote for Defiant - exceptional service, great product. Helped tighten up my steering substantially.

Installed the BD from Geno's. Nice quality product but I noticed very little difference. However, my steering was sacked out by then anyway.



I now have a new Red Head Steering Gear box in and with the BD in place my new box should last. At least that's how I'm mentally justifying having purchased the steering stabilizer.



It does a nice job of supporting the steering box sector shaft.

i just put one on after i had the factory steering box replaced under warantee at around 50K. i see it as protection so the new box dosen't leak as fast at the original. it firms everything up.

I put a BD stabilizer kit on my truck 6 weeks ago it helps but I did not like how cheep they are my stabilizer kit came with all the bolts that was all a lesser Grade bolts then the Dodge bolts that came on my truck and they tell you to take your Dodge High Grade bolts out and tell you to put in the cheep week lesser Grade bolts onto my truck so I had to go to the hardware store and payed for the longer higher Grade bolts that was easyer then sending it back . If I had to do it again I would by another brand just because they put the cheep bolts in my kit . That is my life they are playing with if the low Grade bolts brake when I am on the road. Dodge must have put High Grade bolts in for a reason . Everyone check the Grade bolts that was on your truck and then check the Grade of the BD stabilizer kit replacement bolts and tell us all if they are saving money at the cost of are lives. I can't believe that my kit was the only kit that came with lower Grade bolts.

Noticeable improvement with the BD stabilizer versus stock in the way my truck handles. On the county roads around here the difference is like night and day.
