BD's RAD 2 anti defueler

In the mail today I had my RAD 2 device and going through the box I noticed a couple of things. The ease of installation by the way of the directions and the potentiometer in the RAD box that will adjust for my tire size. This thread is mostly about finding out how accurate the adjustment is for tire size? I am sure it is accurate or I would have read something about it. If it works out for me then I can get rid of my Superlift calibrator.

I've looked at the true speed thing. My tire size is off. What's the difference in the Superlift one and this new one? Does the Superlift one work? Wanna get rid of it?

The new one in reference is the BD RAD 2 (race anti De-fueler) The purpose for the device is to eliminate torque management from degrading my acceleration in 1st and 2nd gear. It also has the speed eliminator in it. (I got the info from the instructions. ) It reads; a new feature of this unit is the ability to adjust for tire size.

The true speed, I have had on my truck for almost a year now. I have been able to dial in to the exact speed I am traveling, comparing it to a GPS hand held unit. What is nice about the superlift true speed it has two settings, if I wanted to switch back to stock tires, then I flip the switch, then when I go back to my almost 35's" I flip the switch again. I hope to have the RAD device on in the next couple of days to see how good the tire adjustment is, but I have no complaints with the Super Lift true speed. (I know someone will say have your dealer do the speedo adjustment, when I asked my dealer they said they couldn't get that high on the program for the tire size. I know they can, but at the time I didn't)

I have the RAD 2 device installed, but it is raining out so I could not pour the coals to the beast. Hopefully it is dry tomorrow so I can give it a test. The device is pretty neat. It has two settings, on or off. Off being the stock form. I only had one small glitch on the installation, but soon figured it out after talking with Kyle at Exteme Diesel and Pat at BD.

On the other part of the RAd device with the adjustment for the tire size. What a piece of cake. It was much easier then adjusting the True Speed calibrator. With the instructions BD sent, the initial adjustment was off by two MPH. Plus I have one more mod to put in my signature. :D

The thing Rocks!!! Oo. I had a few problems with it in the beginning. For those of you with an 03' and are thinking about the device, the tire calibrater does not work on the 03' trucks. It says it in the newer version of directions. Thanks the Pat at BD for helping me out with this issue. But since I have had it installed, I never really got to try it out except for the drag strip, which is what it was intended for. The days of the truck defueling from first to second gear are gone. I launched from the line in 4x4 at 10 lbs of boost and the truck just took off. The shift to second gear was unreal, I no longer fall on my face when racing. ( I have only raced two times this year in the same day, I didn't get the truck to race. ;) ) The 60 ft time I had was 1. 98 seconds.

Another advantage of the devices is that it no longer hits the speed limiter. I am not sure if this is why on the dyno I could get my truck to 3250 RPM's. Before the device was installed, I would drop at 2950 RPM's. I would definitely recommend this device, not for drag racing or going faster then what is recommended, but because if the need arises, you can smoke some one. Plus it will save the transmission from the defueling process fomr first to second. If interested give Kyle Graham a call at Extreme Diesel Performance. He is an advertiser on the site and I think his website has a link. Or PM me if you want some more information.
