Competition Rookie Sled Pulling question

I'm looking to get into diesel drag racing. My question comes in the form of what engine to use. I'm planning on building a 2wd truck specifically for racing and cruise nights. (Not that we have night time during the summers in Alaska):D Should I go with a 12v or 24v? Which is the easiest and cheapest to build power with? Can the first year non-intercooled motors be built to run? Again I'm just getting into the diesel drag side of the sport and haven't started building the truck yet so I want to try and avoid as many pitfalls as possible.

Any help and information would be greatly appreciated.

Yep

Sled Puller,

You bet they do. Oo. Oo.

The main one is in Palmer Alaska and the local Lions club puts on a couple drags a summer at the local airpot. I don't know how many Cummins they have seen run but I hope to change that. :D

Okay, here's what you want:

12V "Killer Bee" ('94-'98). Automatic. Regular cab.

Call Piers (604) 853-9396 and have him set you up. You'll want his twins, Stoopid pump (or better), injectors, etc. How much do you want to spend?

Then call Diesel Transmission Technologies (604) 504-4002 and get their deluxe race trans. They're just down the block from Piers, so your truck could go right from one to the other (if you're not doing the work yourself).

Then invest in a tire company, you'll be going through them. :p

Good luck! :)

Thanks for the info

Thanks for the information I thought from what I've read in various post that the 12Valve engine would be the way to go. I plan on giving Peirs a call when I get home from work on wednesday and see what kind of deal we can work up.
