Apparently, there are some of us who received defective rims from the factory. I was told that the 8 lug crome rims either were bent before installation at the factory or have a design flaw that leads to them bending over time due to weight stress. Has anyone else run into this problem and if so, how did you resolve it? I just confirmed that I have 2 rims that need replacing.

rrohde, suprise, you found DC`s little known secret!!!! DC has very little brain power when it comes to wheels!! First off they put little bitty tires on a big truck, then they put skinny little rims on them. The chrome rims that your talking about come from the factory BENT!! The lateral and radial tolorences for these wheels are 40 and 45 thousandths!!! (JUNK!!) I talked to a used rim guy in town to see if he would take them on trade and he said he would IF they were straight. I asked him what was straight to him and he said no more than 11-12 thou I think. As far as a good solution... BUY NEW WHEELS... #ad

It's not just DC that gives us egg shaped wheels. My '94 Ford had out of round wheels on it until my wife splurged for some Cragar mags and Dunlop tires at Christmas time. Stupid me, I let them go with the truck when I upgraded to the '95 Dodge Cummins. It, as well as my '98 has out of round wheels. My '84 Isuzu diesel had out of round steel wheels. I replaced them with steel takeoffs from a newer Isuzu P'up. They were also out of round.

Just had my tires rebalanced. It looks like all 4 wheels might be bent.

I too have had a bent wheel replaced. I still have a bounce that no one can resolve. I've had all four Crapyear Tires replaced and still can't get rid of the bounce. I just bought a set of BFG 285's and will install them as soon as I can afford a set of Mickey Thompson Challengers. I agree with Truckman-little tires and skinny rims-dump them.

One of my wheels is bent too. It can still be balanced with about 8 oz of lead weights. I priced a new one. Forget it.

I try to run it on the rear axle. Tweeked wheels are not as noticable on the back.

I had two bent wheels replaced. everything was fine untill I got new rubber 255. 85x16,left the tire shop had a vibration front & rear. went back had the tires remounted, tried to get the heavy end of the wheel and the heavy end of the tire to match, still had vib, broke em down again found two bent wheels at the welds, got em replaced under warranty no questions asked. when I put on the bigger tires all that rotating weight made it vibrate, with the stock tires it was smooooooth. as for the rear end bounce,it got worse with the bigger tires. 700lbs. of sand smoothed it right out.

I thought my wheels were bent but it was just the moron running the tire balancing machine at Discount Tire. As it turns out the center hole which they use that cone shaped nut to center the wheel on the machine is not round. I looked at it closely and insisted they use an 8 lug adapter. Amazing! no more bent wheels.

If they are using a computer balancer they must use the eight lug adapter insted of the cone. I went thru this a couple of years ago at our local know nothing Costco

I have been having a heck of a time keeping my tires balanced. I have hopping that comes and goes. I have had the tires inspected and replaced, shocks replaced, rims checked..... etc. Maybe it is the lack of the 8-lug adapter. Have had to rebalance the tires every 1000 miles or so.

Another advantage to living in the West--Les Schwab!! I will never buy a tire from anyone else. It is great to have someone that knows how to do the work they are charging you for.
