I would like to put together an on board air system on the truck, I have a 4 gal air tank form an old compressor setup that i can mount on truck. I am just looking for a good quality 12 volt 100% duty cycle compressor. I am looking to run horns, air tools lightly, fill tires, and down the road possibly run air bags or a pac brake if need be.

thanks

I have run this Product : Extreme Outback for the last 6 years or so with no problems. If they had had it at the time I probably would have went with the Magnum Product : Extreme Outback . I have not really tried running air tools with mine so cant really speak to how effective it would be might be a bit on the low end for a big air using tool. Just havent needed to on the road at hiome I just fire up the home compressor.

I've use the Viaiars fairly extensively, along with the cheaper Puma's, and both are excellent compressors for the money. The Puma's are only 75% duty cycle, I believe, but the Viair's are available at 100% duty cycle, starting just under $200, with no tanks. I've used them around the ranch extensively, even on tractor and plow tires, and have had not mechanical issues with the Viairs. The Puma's have a good track record as well, and I use the Puma to run my air bags and train horns on my '04, train horns and to air up LOTS of tires on and around my '97, and a Viair on my '03 for my horns and again, lots of farm tires. These guys carry the Viair compressors and accessories(cheapest for the air switches by far): Jeep Parts, Jeep Accessories & Jeep Soft Tops From The Jeep Parts Experts - Quadratec These guys are where I get the Puma's; there may be other, cheaper places(I believe the importer/manufacturer for Puma is in Kansas): J & I Manufacturing - Truck beds, Trailers, and Supplies for the farming, ranching, and oilfield industries.

Viair is the cheapest reliable solution. While the specs on the Air Zeniths look a little better, they do not hold up well. Mine lasted 2 weeks before it destroyed itself. The reed valve broke and destroyed the cylinder head
