I have an 01 eth and read the latest TDR, seems the AFE "cold" air kit flowed the best what does everyone think the "best" filter is and why?? I have heard people complain about dirty turbos using K&N's what about the AFE setup?? Your help is greatly appreciated.

Moving this to the Products Forum, since this will be a product comparison discussion - There should be plenty of discussion once everyone sees this thread. I'm running an AFE in the stock box and it works well for my needs. It's not the best flowing filter available, but then I don't need something like that.

Scotty Air 2

My vote is for the Scotty Air 2 with the AFE filter because it sucks cool air from outside the engine compartment.

I own the Scotty I and think it was the worst money I spent on up-grades..... probably would not buy Scotty again (WAY, way over priced)... ... . my 2 Cents... ... ... ... . R, J. B.

scotty 2 too noisy?

I have heard that the scotty is noisy, how noisy? I am looking at the AFE kit that is under the hood, with the metal shoud that helps keep the hot air from the turbo away. How much does a complete scotty system cost??

Thanks for the help

who is running a BHAF? Are you happy with it? do you secure it to the engine compartment in some way, or just hook it up to the turbo hose.

Scotty Air II Sucks.........

... ... . a whole lot of cool air! :D Be hard to consider me an impartial observer..... but Scotty has done his homework and is always searching for ways to make his system better. Mine goes on this afternoon!

As for the noise issue you can run the Scotty II in the HUSHHHHH mode to keep noise levels down to a minimum... and have the option to run it full-bore at some point in the future for maximum EGT drops. Best of all worlds IMO

BHAF

I run the bhaf and it works great for me, got the 10 inch fleetguard. Dropped egts alot and I don't even have the heat shield on yet, it just sits there and stays put. I am searching for a scoop (aero) out of hotrod magazines that will work as a scoop slash cowl induction with four bolts going throught the hood so that its reversable. Then I can make a nice heat shield and suck air from outside the hood. All this for around 150$, plus the cool factor. Any body have idea on where to get a good scoop that will fit offcenter? Looked in summit, Jegs, and some mustang magazines. I would like to fine a place that has them in stock so I can see them in person. Anybody know a good shop in Utah?

Filters

I had the original Scotty with K&N re0880 for a while but found it to be to loud for prolonged towing in a well bombed truck. Also, I found out that the K&N didn't meet the partical size spec recomended by Cummins. I'm now using a Fleetguard BHAF with a homemade heat shield, and have had good results with it:D

I have seen the aFe set up on a truck and it looks very sharp and sounds good. However you still have to oil it like a K&N, and that is why I went away from the K&N re0880. I am useing the BHAF with no sheild or anything and it seems to be fine.

Here you go. . one picture of the BHAF. I have since added an outterwears water resistent cover.....
