So what does one figure the whole thing is going to cost a guy... ... $68 for the frame and how much for the rest of the stuff??? baron

10-4 Dean. I will give you a call when it's ready.

jellermeyer- $68 for mount and hardware, + filter (Fleetguard AH19037) which is about $40 with shipping. Less expensive filters are available. So, the total is about $108.

Hi, guys and gals! I have learned a lot as a lurker and have just joined TDR. My need to add a question to this thread pushed me over the top!

I have been reading about the BHAF and the periodic K&N filter debates. I like the BHAF and understand how the K&N is supposed to work and its claims of passing more air than a stock filter. I have calculated that the BHAF has about 50% more filtering surface area, not considering differences in pleating, than a stock filter. I think that it might be useful to hear more of how the BHAF is performing in terms of egt reduction, boost increase, mileage gains, etc. both when new and when about to be replaced. I know that some have the opportunity to compare it against the K&N also. I have a never-installed K&N and would like to decide now whether to install it or sell it and choose a stock or BHAF filter. Your observations about the BHAF would be appreciated.

Clark,

Since you already have the K&N, it seems hard to resist trying it out. Your airbox has a better sealing system (rod and bolt arrangement) than mine did. This was one of my reasons for going to the BHAF. As you probably know, you'll have to remove your stock airbox to install the BHAF, then make some kind of bracket type thing to support it and keep the water off of it. (wet paper filter = BAD). Whatever you decide, either one is going to give better airflow, longer filter life and increased performance over the stock filter. However, there is the potential for the dust problem with the K&N. That being said, the magnitude of the differences you're going to see are quite subjective and will depend on such things as the condition of your original air filter and the extent of any mods you've done to the engine (pump adjustments, turbo housing etc. ). I say you should stick in your K&N and give it a rip. :D
