I was just wondering what everybody is using to care for your truck.

I heard the 303 Protectant is best for rubber and vinyl because it doesn't have silicone.

What about the paint. I was looking at the 3M products, are they any good?

I have been a long time fan on Blue Coral products, but am looking to use the very best on the 'ol girl this summer.

Your comments are greatly appreciated. Thanks for the input, Ryan.

Macguires is pretty popular with the guys. I don't think I spelled it right. I'm sure some one else can. 3M products work fine too.

I've allways Been a zymol guy when done correctly I can go 12 months between waxings and water still beads. A bit pricy but worth every penny. Get stuff but there are plenty of good products like MqGuires (another favorite)

Cooker,

I have tried what seems like ever type of car care products available. Nothing I ahve found last as long or looks as good as Meguiars products!

I use #7 Show Car Glaze followed by #26 High Tech Yellow wax for the paint. Inside gets #40 Vinyl and Rubber cleaner/protectant + seats get their Leather Cleaner and Conditioner. Then for when it just needs a little cleaning #34 Final Inspection works great.

All of the above products are from Meguiars Mirror Glaze line (tan bottle). I feel that all of their product lines are great, just a personal preference for the Mirror Glaze (makes the truck look great).

Hope this helps,

Doug S.

Cooker, you are correct regarding the 303 protectant. In addition, it provides the best UV protection of any rubber/vinyl protectant on the market.

I also agree with Tool Man, I have been using a combination of products from both Zymol and Griot's Garage for several years now. The Zymol wax I have been using for the last year is made especially for Beverly Hills Motoring Accessories and is their Platinum wax, containing ONLY #1 grade, WHITE Brazilian carnuba wax ($$$$). Man, is this stuff *****in! If you have a black Ram... this will make it look wet in comparison to all other waxes/polishes I've tried (which includes almost all of the best on the market).

John,

How does that stuff from Griot Garage hold up. I have thier catalog and the marketing hype makes their products sound top notch. Want to know if the stuff is as good as they say, for the $$$ #ad
I would expect nothing less.

How well does that Zymol work? Does it buff off easily. Several years ago I tried their "regular" wax (stuff at Wal-mart) when my truck was new. I had a heck of a time buffing it off and it left a oily/streaky look after finally getting the wax buffed off. I used it the fist 2 times I waxed the truck and ended up pitching the stuff in the trash and went to McGuires professional products and thier yellow wax.

I'm always looking for better polishes/waxes.

P. S. who makes that 303 vinyl protectant?

I'll second the vote for Zaino Bro's product. I've used Meguiars and it is very good and readily available. But, the Zaino's is an improvement in my opinion. Easy to apply, is at least a two step process so takes a little more time than a wax only product, but the results are excellent and long lasting.

There are no owners more ANAL about their ride than us Viper owners. Go to the Viper website and ask the question about shine, and you will get an overwhelming vote for Zaino bro. There is nothing else like it!!!

I waxed the truck this weekend. Took me all of 20 minutes for a crew cab. That was total time to put on and buff off. One rag to apply and one to buff. Easiest I have ever used. I have a crew cab black truck and it leaves no swirl marks at all. ZAINO! #ad

OK guys I read the info on Zaino Bros web page and now ask which is better, Zaino Bros or Griot Garage products??

Which process will give a better finish, hand applied and buffed or using one of those professional random orbital buffers & foam buffing pads? I was considering the Machine polish & wax kit (which includes the Porter Cable random orbital buffer and pads) from Griot's, but after reading the Zaino Bro product info I'm undecided. Any insight would be helpful.

I'll 4th on the Zaino. I used to use Meguires, and this stuff is much easier to use and lasts longer.

I have been a big fan of Meguiars for a long time . Bought some Zaino at a recent car show, and just tried it this weekend on my black truck. It left a very impressive shine but still would like to see how long it lasts after a few washes.

I'll cast my vote for Zaino Brothers also. I have used Meguiars, and most every product I've ever seen in stores for the last 15 years on various vehicles. Really liked Meguiras, but nothing I've ever used or seen is as fantastic as Zainos. I currently have 2 coats each of their Z2 and Z5 polish on Godzilla, have washed him about 4 or 5 times since the last of these coats, water beads incredibly well still!

I did not get the clay bar just the pre polish(tan ) the polish(pink) and a bottle of showroom polish in a black bottle that actually smells like bazooka chewing gum. This is the stuff that I used the other day. Gonna wait for a nice spring day to do the 2 stage stuff(tan and pink)I noticed on the bottle that it said it contained petroleum distillates. They usually come off in the rain and then the finsh starts to look dull so I am waiting to see what happens when it rains but I was real impressed with the way the finish looked. The guy who sold it to me said they only wax about twice a year. I find that hard to believe with normal washing(once a week) and the normal elements
but only time will tell.

"So which wax/polish treatment gave the longest lasting protection?"

Really not much difference - tho' the Meguiars SEEMED to be losing gloss the quickest. The "test" occupied about 6 months...
