I hate to bore everyone with another clutch question but I need to figure this out. I'm running a '96 CTD 2500. 158k miles It's running an open exhaust (4" stacks) and an AFE filter. I bought the truck used from a dealer around Waynesburg, PA and knew nothing about what was done to it. I installed a South Bend clutch (up too 400hp and light towing) I dyno'd it at 273 HP @ 698 Torque. Max boost of 38lbs. Last year I started pulling. First time out I won second in the Hot diesel class. The second time pulling I smoked the clutch real bad. Stunk for a week. So my question is. . was my clutch to light for pulling or did i just mess up off the line and smoke it because of stupidity?
So now I need a new clutch for this year. I think there's a #12 plate in my truck. I'd like to change to a #10 and a 3K spring kit. I want to end up around 325 HP or more. What clutch would u recomend for my truck. I don't want to keep buying clutchs as my HP gets increases. The truck is my daily driver (25 miles) so it needs to still be somewhat streetable.
Thanks for any help you can provide. .
