Question on the OEM pads.
Is there a difference in the original Mopar OEM pads and the Mopar Value Line pads?
I don't need brakes yet but I was just wondering.

Yes, there are two lines of pads. From what I have read and heard from those with experience using both, if you want them to last use the premium OEM pads, the life of the value pads does not seem to be near as good as the premium.

Absolutely correct... .

When it is time for me to get new pads, I'll be going with the OEM Premium series, NOT the Value line.

Brakes

I had the original brakes replaced on mt 03 3500 replaced in the 40,000 to 45,000 mile range. The calipers sequentially locked up dur to corrosion breaking loose and jamming the caliper pistons, locking the pads against the rotors. All the work was done by a dealer using factory parts. Now at 100K they have again been replaced. One rear brake pad sheared off the lining. One front caliper was leaking and when pushing back the piston on the other front caliper it began to leak. All four calipers, rotors and brake pads were replaced. The truck has only been lightly used as it is mostly driven by my wife. I have done some light towing, up to 5,000 lbs. I will never trust the factory parts again when better aftermarket parts are available.

I had my Front Brakes go out in Colorado with 116,000 miles on the truck. I had no choice but to have someone look at them for me. Took the truck to Brakes Plus. At first I was concerned about how good a job they would do and the cost. The Rotors were shot, calipers were frozen and Pads gone! They installed new Rotors and Calipers and Ceramic Pads. The trucks stops better then new! Cost me $700, but I was not in position to do much about it. At least the pads are warrantied for as long as I own the truck. Truck has 133,000 on her and the pad wear is about 15%. I had OEM pads that only lasted a max of 30,000 miles, which is not bad, but you get what you pay for.

Do harder bighting pads affect the ABS?

I doubt it... I believe that the ABS sensors are comparing RELATIVE wheel speed, so as long as you are using the same pads across the brake system,

all changes in wheel speed (with the harder pads biting and stopping more quickly) will be the same across the system and will NOT affect ABS.

Does that make sense ??

It makes sense. I've just heard about how some people have experienced problems with their ABS after modifying their brakes. Maybe it was after changing rotors.

please tell me how or what you all use to get the calibers off,my c clamp want fit the double piston to squeezs them down. to remove off the calibers, hope i made sense. thank you gary.
