OK, for those interested. I went to NAPA and got a thottle lock. I made a bracket that fits under the right side of the knee bolster and run a drill bit though the thottle petal (near the top) I installed a 5/16" bolt with a hole a little larger than the cable and put a stop on the cable. My cable is inside the cab and it works great. I did remove the pedel from the truck to drill the hole in it becasue of too close quaters. if I get a chance I will shoot a pic as well.

DDT, I think I did the same thing as you. I got a vernier throttle control, and mounted the knob right above my right foot, on the metal support for the knee bolster. I only used about 6" of cable, drilled a hole in the top of the throttle pedal, and ran it through, using 2 cable stops on the other side. It works perfectly. Cost about 90 bucks for the cable, and quite a bit of time to get it set up right.

I tried doing similar things to mine but can never get the idle to stay seems like it wants to runaway to about 2200 pretty quick. I suspect the 4gsk is doing that for me?

How true but I very time I jump in the cab it gets tapped and falls on the floor. This was worth it for me.

I use mine when I am unloading wagons with the pto, so I need to be able to adjust the throttle. I used a stick for a while before that. I actually used a stick, with a short screw in the end of it, so I could turn the screw in or out, to adjust the throttle with that.

This was a very common install on all diesels when I lived in Fairbanks, Alaska where temps routinely reach -50 degrees in the winter.

Fairbanks, Alaska is where I first saw this type of vernier throttle control. I worked for the Fairbanks City Fire Department and all the fire engines had these, one in the cab and one on the pump panel. Definitely do not miss that cold!
