Hewitt Industries

I meant to add, another nice gauge is Hewitt Industries, which I saw at the Diesel Stampede last summer in Calgary. Once again there are no decent pictures or website I can find for these gauges.

It's a mystery to me why this day in age people wanting to market quality products have such lousy, outdated, or nonexistant websites :(

Here's a website with the new Di-Pricol gages.

http://www.dieselpowerproducts.com/gages

It's an animated picture so if you watch you can see what the gages will look like at night.

For some reason the URL above will not take you direcly to the pictures. However, if you type the URL into your browser you can see the pictures.

Those are not the latest white faced Dipricol guages. I was told the new ones are even closer to matching the 03 guages, and the pyro. has the same design as the boost ga. , with no insert(?) in the center. Ken Jones, DD of Utah told me they are supposed to be shipping them the last of this week. Give him a call, 801-791-2328.

Last time I went by Diesel Power Products Dave told me di Pricol was doing the EGT gauge without the d'Arsenval movement (which is covered by the tap protruding over the base of the needle).

I think I'll swing by Dieselpowerproducts tonight after work because I think he has the newest diPricols. If so I'll get on him to update his website :p

Vaughn

Yeah and tell him just to post a plain 'ol pic that doesn't change as soon as I get to studying it. ;)

Just talked to Ken out there as well, he didn't have a pic or anything but said he should have them around next tuesday. he said the actual gauge lit up in the 03 color, no need for a colored bulb. Starting to sound like these may be the ticket.

;) ;) Thanks for the link, but gauges has a U in it ;) ;) Try this one... http://www.dieselpowerproducts.com/gauges

After visiting their webpage I too see it is a pain in the ... ... . Almost decided against Di-Pricol because of their website...

They are nice looking gauges.

Thanks again for the link... doc

The have re-designed the Pyro so it does not have the piece in the center

cool. now i can consider the pricol gauges. that plastic thing on the pyro made the gauges not match each other and i completely did not like that. but with a new style coming... . :D

Westach Gauges

I just installed the Westach gauges in the DD dual pod column mount. They look great during the day and are good with the green light cover at night. Overall I am real happy with how they turned out. You can see a picture in the other forum under the thread propod column mount. I don't know how to insert a link.

How are the Westach EGT probes for durability? The reason I ask is because it's common to burn up a Westach EGT probe in about 6months on a gasoline turbo enigne. They don't last at all. I use Autometer probes instead and they last for years. Then again we see cruising temps of 1500F and under load up to 1700F so it's a different ballgame than diesels.

If guys in my car club want the Westach gauge they will buy a generic K-type thermocouple from www.omega.com or something instead. They last much, much longer.

Thermocoulpe

This is my second Westach EGT on a Cummins, I just installed this one so we'll see how long it lasts. They other one was on a 98 24 valve that I had for four years without a failure. It never saw 1500 degrees though!

Diesel Power Products

Well I went by Diesel Power Products today and Dave showed me all the di Pricol gauges he carries but all the EGT gauges still have the d'Arsenval movement meaning it has the tab over the center. He doesn't believe they are redesigning them anytime soon, but otherwise I think the gauges look cool.

I also spec'd out the Westach gauges with white faces and they look good too, but I prefer the appearance of the di Pricols.

I gave him a hard time about the website photos phasing through the photos. He said he could slow it down when he has time (been major busy) but did that so he wouldn't have to post all the pictures at once and make a large web page.

Vaughn. . those Hewetts are nice we saw in Calgary... hogh quality also... If I didn't already have SPA's I would get them... . sure would be nice in your new '03

so,have we figured who has the best match for 03?

and does the double gage on the post get it the way of the grab handle?

Hewitts

Well after talking to Wildcat Diesel in Saskatchewan, who used to carry HI gauges, I was convinced they're not a good one to go with. They had lots of issues with the fuel pressure gauges, especially the isolators, and HI was very difficult to deal with resolving warranty issues. They were a nice looking gauge though!

Vaughn,

I talked to the "big man" at Di Pricol last week, and they are coming out with a new pyro that does not have the "horseshoe". They are shipping them today. He also told me that they will have a turquoise light that matches the lighting of the current ('03) Dodge trucks. Call Ken Jones at Diesel performance to confirm 801-791-2328.

Ditto, called yesterday, same response!! Now to find a mounting location for the '03 with heated seats. Thinking about area below ashtray and cup holder and/or ashtray and a single A-pillar pod.

Our bombing will not include a chip nor injectors. For now 4" exhaust, higher flow airfilter and gauges for heavy towing 1) EGT pre turbo; 2) Auto transmission temp; 3) fuel pressure post lift pump.

Westech are nice, but I much prefer the DiPricol... Am I missing anything here?
