Thanks again for the info you guys! Well i put a deposit down on the fifth wheel, so were plannin on leavin wed evening and picking it up on sat.

does anybody recall how much toll fees are these days? im still plannin on 40/44/70/31.

I think it's $7. 25/$7. 25=$14. 50. It's split up on either side of Tulsa. That's with a trailer, deadhead will be cheaper on your way east.

Good luck to you. I do hope all goes well and you make the round trip safe and sound. Keep us informed. Are you taking a Wi-Fi laptop with you?

Have a great trip! You might pay attention to the MPG on the trip, I had an early Powerjoke and despite all I hated about it, it got some fantastic mileage for me for the weight I pulled. We are all looking forward to your daily reports!

I have made that run many times over the years. This is my path of "least resistance"---- I-40 east to OK I-44 east, to MO I-70 east, to IL I-70 east, to IL I-57 north, to Kankakee IL. , IL-SR17 east, to IL-SR114 east, becomes IN-SR10 east, to IN. I-65 north, to IN. I-94 east (allows you to miss the 80/94 "bottleneck" at the IL/IN state line). To MI I-94 east, to MI I-196 to MI US-31 north.

Worst part of the trip would be trying to travel east into/through St. Louis during morning rush.

Texas would be the most likely to spank you for being over your GCVW. I doubt they would bat an eye if you are private tagged and not being commercial/For Hire.

Fuel prices will steadily decrease until you reach OKC and then will start climbing from there.

Should be a "no sweat" run for you... Happy Trails!!!

Well we made it back from MI late sunday night 6/24 (11pm) with the new trailer behind the 03' powerstroke 6. 0. we were gone exactly 96hrs. total fuel bill was $1139. his truck only avg 16. 5mpg going there and 8. 5 comin back(hes running 295/75r16 tires... . part of the problem). he came from Fresno, CA so total miles for him was around 4800. cheapest fuel was around Oklahoma and Missouri. we made it all the way to ST Roberts, MO just west of ST Louis for our first hotel stay. then took the 70 out of ST Louis to the I465 up the 31. we hit the 31 around 3pm on a friday so traffic was pretty bad, but once we got out of town we had no problems. made it to Kalamazoo, MI for our 2nd stay, then drove into Muskegon to pick up the trailer. we hooked up and were on the road by 1230 MI time saturday. we drove straight thru just stopped to eat and refuel, made it home in 37hrs averaging 68mph. we took a chance on the 80/94 thru chicago and were lucky. had to wait 5 minutes to pay the $1. 70 toll, but that was all the traffic we hit up there. took the 57 down to the 70 and back tracked home. That was one heck of a trip! All went well except for the engine light that stayed on the entire trip(wondering if the poor mileage was the result of the check engine light and the tires!). i have to admit, that truck had some power. that torque shift transmission is pretty nice. pulled the hills at 65-70. he has no gauges... . but its still under warranty:-laf

Once again everybody thanks for the advice, it sure helped. road construction everywhere out there, but only ever had to slow down to 45mph. sorry the 2nd pick of truck and trailer kinda sucks!

Thanks for the trip report! That is one sweet looking trailer ya got, too bad about the lousy mileage though.

Very nice 5er. Too bad about that low of mileage. Even the no load mileage of 16. 5 going was not great. Is that typical for a PS 6. 0? I bet your Cummins would have done much better.

Enjoy your new 5th Wheel.
