I have made that run many times over the years. This is my path of "least resistance"---- I-40 east to OK I-44 east, to MO I-70 east, to IL I-70 east, to IL I-57 north, to Kankakee IL. , IL-SR17 east, to IL-SR114 east, becomes IN-SR10 east, to IN. I-65 north, to IN. I-94 east (allows you to miss the 80/94 "bottleneck" at the IL/IN state line). To MI I-94 east, to MI I-196 to MI US-31 north.
Worst part of the trip would be trying to travel east into/through St. Louis during morning rush.
Texas would be the most likely to spank you for being over your GCVW. I doubt they would bat an eye if you are private tagged and not being commercial/For Hire.
Fuel prices will steadily decrease until you reach OKC and then will start climbing from there.
Should be a "no sweat" run for you... Happy Trails!!!
