Showan,I just checked, and im about 200 miles away, your welcome to drive my truck anytime your out this way,Im east of you,but there must be someone closer with a DTT setup. I do beleive you are better off buying a DTT rebuilt unit, than a local rebuild, even if its 1000 more. The local rebuilds guys get around here last betwen=en 3-6 months usually, and they never shift right.

Snow man, Thank you for the offer, I wish you were closer. Even though it is a 200 mile drive (one way) I am considering it. My wife would think I'm even more crazy than she thought (oh well).

I think what I am going to do first is take it to my Local Dodge dealer, have them write up an estimate and then see what if anything my extended warranty company will do for me. I hope they are fair with me so I can tell everyone at the TDR which Co. it is and give them a little free publicity. I certainly don't want it rebuilt with stock components so I hope they will pay for some or most of the cost one of the trans rebuilds everyone has been talking about (I havent decided which one yet). I'm not sure if I will notice enough of a difference between a DTT trans and others to justify the cost difference. Keeping in mind that my engine is stock now and if I do modify it, it will only be up to the 220-230 hp. range. I would like more performance but reliability is even more important to me.

Thanks again

D. Showan, if you get the prices of TC and VB's from all the companies out there I don't think you will find as big of a difference as you expect between them. There are a lot of milled stator convertors out there that are near or equal to the price of a BD or DTT (alphbetical order:p ) top end stator. Add up the price of a rebuild and the upgrade components and compare that to the price of complete trannies from several of the aftermarket suppliers. Just trying to help.

D. Showan,

Just about anyone can beat another’s price. Give me a price, I will cut the quality of my product and give you a better price. You tell me what the competition said, and I will give you a better story. It has been said, “Each vender knows what their product is worth”. Low dollars, low value? Obviously, you can pay more for less.

Consider the following:

Why is the most popular vender so popular?

Can you reach the venders tech support?

What is the overall attitude of the company’s staff?

Has the vender ever tried to convince you to buy a less expensive product?

Does the vender try to sell you their top of the line every time?

Have you read any negative comments on the TDR based on substance?

Is the vender so good, they only need one version of their product, or do they have several versions depending on your application?

I am not beholding to DTT in any way, but DTT will get my money, when the time comes.

Read their bulletins for a while, then decide where you can save money.

P. S. I own no Snap-On tools, and do buy from Kmart (not often).

Like lots of us, I want to spend my money as wisely as I can. But that usually means taking a look "down the road" to make sure what we're doing will still provide satisfactory service after the euphoria of an upgrade has worn off and it's back-to-work time. I hope to install a DTT trans and t/c later this year: kind of a 200K miles birthday present to the truck:D . I already have a DTT vb, and like it a lot.

A sign I remember says it all: "Price, Quality, Service. Pick any 2".
