Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) best turbo selection

my buddys vp truck just popped a turbo (shaft broke) the other day and looking for a performance replacement, he has a 01 6spd with edge juice with hot unlock and looking for sticks in the near future. He dosn't want to suffer spool up or break the bank, he has considered the BD super B and leaning towards the ATS aurora 3000 because of the superior warranty (3yr 150,000). but is there any other choice that would be better, also heard that the BD killer B's are really good but what would it take to put one on second gen other than a manifold?
