Put my adjustable boost elbow on yesterday. Read on a nother forum where a guy said to take an airhose set reg at 32psi screw your elbow into airgun and cycle until it moves wastegate. Did that but it only moves about 1/4" is that it? Also it has a pinhole in the side of it. Is that supposed to be there? And when I got it the setscrew was almost closed all the way. I just want to be sure I want to be able to tow with evryone else but I do not head gasket problems. Is 35psi all it will handle?

as far as I thought all of the ones I have bought were set around 40 psi. turn right and will get higher boost. turn left get less. if you have a boost gauge. turn the adj boost elbow left 2 full turns and go and drive truck if you can easily hit 35psi ish than keep adjusting it untill you get it at a safe psi you want. I never used the air nozzle way I wanted to know what it was doing on my truck this way only one install time. and then just adjust.

it's from source

I probably have it about 3 turns open new so we will see what it does. I know I have seen it but what psi should I have at max. I am not drag racing. Just like to feel the power every once in a while. Do not want to be pushing limits of stock turbo or head gasket. Just a safe level.

Don't know what truck your driving but on my 12v, I kept the boost at around 35 psi max with the stock head gasket, even though I had a better turbo. I know of a few guys running close to 50 psi with a stock head gasket but that was more than I liked. Ran mine about 2 years then studs, fire rings and new head gasket. Time to turn it up boost to 50-60 max. Just my experience but I didn't want to lose the stock gasket til I was prepared.

The stock turbo over heats the charge air at anything over 30 psi. 35 is ok but too high for optimum power with a stock unit.

correct.
also a 24v can take 40-45psi safely as far as the headgasket is concerned. it really has more to do with cylinder pressures than boost but...
and the air method doesnt take into account drive pressure. the best way to set the elbow/gate is to shut it tight and work the truck TC in lock @ WOT and keep backing the elbow out until the boost is at your max. the way it works is to restrict the boost air from helping the drive pressure trying to open the gate against the spring. ;)

thank you all

I will try and get it dialed in a day or two and let ya'll know how well that goes. From reading your post's I will try to have max pressure at 30-32psi. I guess while I am at it"" I know what I am going to here but I do not have a mechanical boost gauge all I have is the pulse monitor do any of ya'll think this is sufficient? Or should I rig something up?

I personally only have ever had mechanical gauges. they are reliable to me and I know they are going to last awhile . electronics ? never used a elect reading gauge from a power adder.

i know now

Guess I should let everyone know. It came to me as soon as I got about 15mph and was only at 2psi boost. You can not set a boost elbow with the digital gauge from the adrenaline. It reads it from the map sensor and appaerently it reads what the computer on my truck see's. Started second guessing this as I was writing it anyway rigged up a mechanical gauge in the cab last night. If I can get my transmission line put back together and test drive. I will know then.

Mmmmm

Ok, my brain is back. Lost it for a while. The map reads intake pressure so it does read actuall boost on thepulse. But it is to jerky to set equipement by. Installed a low side HVAC gauge and was able to read acurate boost. Set at 30PSI on level 5. Did notice on stock setting that it would only go to 21PSI. Oh well found out that the airhose trick is a bunch of caca. Thanks for the help. I sure can tell a difference with extra boost and it helped with EGT's considerably.
