I was perusing the results of a search on air intakes tonight and came across the "Better BHAF" post. Am I correct that this is a cleanable, reusable filter? What does the cleaning process entail? Does this filter provide adequate filtration as is? Or does it also require the use of a pre-filter like the "regular" BHAF does? Is a heat shield necessary or can it be ran without one? Finally, for those of you that have this setup... are you happy with it, or is there something else you would rather use? Any ideas on the best online place to purchase from would be appreciated as well. Thanks for the info!

KSTUMP I have the bhaf setup and noticed a big difference over the stock intake, I purchased the OuterWares brand cover in yellow so I can see the dirt collected, I just cleaned the cover buy throwing it in the washer with my clothes simple Ha! the filter was as clean as the day I installed it . considering the alternatives the $100. 00 invested in this set-up is a no brainer My goal is to get the most mileage I can out of my truck and I'm doing good so far I've gone from 15+ to 18+ around town and have more power to boot, I expect to see 3. 00 gal. fuel before the years out so its vital to me to make smart improvements , the exhaust is next hope this has helped Bill 1994 3/4 ton 4/4 ram

The one I think you are referring to is the AMSOIL EAau4510 nanofiber filter. To clean it all you do is use your shop vac in reverse and blow it out from the inside out. and Run you vac along the outerside and get the dirt out. I have this on my truck and I love it. You can really hear the turbo yell. -Jason

The AMSOIL nanofiber filter is the one I was thinking of. I went ahead and ordered one from Wildmanben with the stainless heatshield and bracket. JOdell, do you use a prefilter with the AMSOIL filter such as the one that BLegere mentioned? Thanks for the info guys?

Wow, you don't have 3. 00 a gallon fuel yet. I envy you.

I purchased one of the Amsoil filters and i was very happy with the looks, the added turbo sound, and the aspect of being able to clean it. But when it came time to clean it... . Not happy. I cleaned it at night just outside of the shop so I could see the dust that was coming out. I spent a lot of time trying to get it as clean as I thought it should be. It probably boils down to use. My drive way is a 6 mile dirt road with free ranch cattle on it the whole way. So I not only get a constant poo pinstipe but there is alot of dust. I went back to the old BHAF so when it was dirty I cheucked it and put in a new one. No more question of "Did I get ic clean enough". So, consider the use. If mostly street I think it would have been great.

Good luck,

Robert

no I don't use a prefilter. AMSOIL does not recommend one as the nanofiber filter is already water resistant. -Jason
