I installed a Scotty 3 a week ago, and in city driving I have noticed close to 2 mpg increase. I was getting 15. 5-15. 7 now with the intake I am seeing 17. 6-17. 9. I have not been able to test the increase on the highway or even higway speeds. I think the increase is do to the decrease in my EGTs, between 25-40 degrees. I only have 7,500 miles on the truck, so it is no where near being broken in yet, I think the increase was from the intake. Just my two cents.

I switched over to synthetic oil (Valvoline Extreme 5W40) and saw an increase of 1 mpg. It felt it wasn't worth the extra cost unless I used extended drain intervals.

But to do that I would have to install a bypass filter (more $$$) and include oil analysis in my maintenance program. From what I've been told, the manufacturer expects oil to be changed every 3750 miles for the warranty to remain in force. So what's the pernt, to use a Brooklyn/New Yawk expression?

If you look at the end of the B service schedule in your owners manual, you'll see a little diamond shape used to indicate 250 or 305 hp engines. Then go back to the B service schedule and look for the diamond in the "change engine oil and engine oil filter" row. The interval for engine oil/filter changes is 7500 miles.

I'll check that out. I read the OM and found the change schedule too confusing to worry about. I figgered the only drivers who qualified for 7500 are those who operate in outer space where there ain't no pollution, dust, whatever. The dealer recommends 3000 mile changes, plus additives Cummins says ain't necessary. I told the dealer to put the additives where it's real dark.

Jeremiah, actually if you check the manual those drivers can go 15,000 on the "A" schedule. :D

Nice looking job. So where'd the ac/heater controls go, down in the cubby?

??? Thats them above the gauges, where they were to begin with. Not being a Limo, I mean Laramie, I didn't have the driver and complainer heat controls.

O-o-o-h, a slight put-down. Oh, well, I'll let you drive my truck sometime so you can see how the other half lives. :)

Heh-heh ... I hear that. I promised my wife there wouldn't be a downside if I swapped my 99 Audi A-6 for the truck. So I came as close as possible w/the Laramie. She still misses the heated steering wheel, though. So do I at 20 below.

I've got 4500 miles on mine. Right now the computer is telling me 14. 4 mpg, and that's based on the last 3500 miles.

I drove it empty, from Phoenix to San Francisco and averaged 17. 8 mpg, if I kept it under 75 mph, and drove on the interstate. At 80 mph, the mileage suffered pretty badly.

On the return, I took the scenice route, down the coast highway. Final mileage when I got back was 17. 2.

My 30 mile commute in Phoenix is getting me the 14. 4. Pulling my big 11k fifth wheel, I'm getting less than 10, but that is going up into the mountains, not on flat ground.

The trip to SFO gave me good mpg, but city stop & go miles are pretty poor mpg, so far. By the end of August I'll have over 10k miles on her, with over 5000 miles pulling the 5er. We'll see if that affects the mpg.

WHew! I'm glad I'm not the only one getting these numbers. I'm hoping that we just got tighter/better motors than these guys getting 20 mpg. :p Either that or we are just better at math. :D

You running auto or 6-speed? Pulling the fiver real hard should help break it in. Watch your EGTs, tho. Running 80 w/or without a load will kill your mileage. After you get it broken in back it off to 1800 rpm solo and watch the mpgs go up. I'm still gettin' better than 20 solo w/my 6-speed, 19. 5 if I'm kickin' it in the butt a lot.

First long trip I have about 3000 miles on my 03', took her up to No. Calif. , avg'd 18. 4 mpg, and that was cruising at 83 mph for 90% of the time, I also hit alot of bumper to bumper traffic around San Fran. I was very pleased with the mileage, I'm sure I could have gotten over 20 mpg if I would have cruised at 70 and if I didn't hit the city traffic... but I need some weight in the back to make this beast ride better!

I'm gonna be yanking my car trailer and Jeep up to the Sacramento area this weekend. I'm really curious to see what kind of mileage I get towing there and empty on the way back.

I achieved 20. 1 mpg on the trip to Muncie and back this past weekend. 915 miles on 45. 5 gallons, top-off to top-off. That was running between 70 and 85 mph most of the way (mostly around 70 though). The computer read 20. 0 so it seems to be reasonably accurate.

I'm really happy with the mileage I've obtained so far. And this is with only about 2000 mile on the truck.
