Max Brake display failure fix

Fifth Wheel Jacks broken

My Wife and I went to a sport show last Sunday and New Horizon was there. I had a very nice long talk with them, they are 100% family owned. Talked to both of the owners sons. Very nice guys. They have some used 5vers on the lot now, we are going to go take a look, maybe tomorrow. I would love to have one, just have to see if they are right for us.

Will post back and let you know what I find.

New Horizon is a great 5th wheel and the only 5 star rated on RV Consumer group Guide. It's spendy however.

Great pictures Chris. I have a few questions. One pic was of a hole in the side of your trailer, just curious what caused it? Also, what is the device mounted to your front bumper? Some type of rack or protection for your front end? That must have been quite an adventure. How long was your trip in both days and miles?

Tholtz

the device was one of those receiver hitch mounted shelves on a hinged receiver hitch I have a front receiver on my bumper. Having driven the back roads of Canada and Alaska I have lost wind shields and radiators from rocks thrown up and at my vehicle from on coming traffic. It worked i watched very large rocks bounce off that thing saving my radiator intercooler, transmission cooler and windshield. as a added benifit it made a great table for the generator when running it and a great place for the webber grill. and yes about 200 miles into the haul road(dalton highway) that large hole appeared in the trailer.

My wonderful wife and I spent about 14 days in the truck and camper and about 4000 miles that trip I added another 2000 on my own when she flew home.

Our next trip In Alaska We will be exploring Alaska`s POW prince of Whales Island In Southeast Alaska. near Ketchikan Alaska. That is If I can find another Cabover camper.

THerber, What'd you find out at the New Horivon manufacturing facility?

I am looking to upgrade the camper in the next few months. Currently we have a 1994 30 ft Dutchman pumper pull camper. I find that the camper is just not made very well. Nothing major, just a lot of little stuff that always in need of repair (like drawers, cabinets, foldout beds etc. ) I am thinking of going to a 5th wheel and planning to spend between $8-14K. I was interesting in your opinions as to what are the good manufactures out there and what options you would recommend. I also think a slider would be really nice.

Thanks,

Thad (Ohio)

I have G rated tires on my moble suite 35 ft. The factory is now offering H rated tires with bigger brake drums for a safer ride. If I ever trade it will be for safety. I don't like thatsinking feeling when a tire seperates. I have been lucky that I haven't had damage to my trailer. Tires looked like brand new but were 4 years old so I spent $1200. and bought 4 new ones. We love our 5th wheel and it is sure well built.

Eclipse Stellar 5er Toy Hauler info

Hi all, I am looking at a Stellar 5er toy hauler, 35' with triple axles. Anyone have any info, good or bad, about the unit and about triple axles?

Thanks in advance, Scott

I had a triple axel trailer at one time and every time I turned a corner the tires on the third axel would drag. I have never heard of a Stellar an we have been traveling full time for 22 years.

I looked up the names, "Eclipse Stellar 5er Toy Hauler and Eclipse Attitude", in my RV Consumer Group guide and found no record of them ever been built. Can you tell me a little more.

If I were you I would look for something else. When you put good money into something you want to make sure the company is going to be around to service it. There are a lot of different makes of trailers out there so be careful.

I agree with Grizzly and Bill above.

That trailer is being made by what I would call a "no name" company. What I mean is it appears to be a company with little experience building rv trailers. The company could grow to become an industry leader in ten years or fold in failure.

I would spend my money on a high quality used unit from a company with a track record.

Im no expert on 5ers but this, being my first, seems to be a good one a 07 bighorn 34' has all the bells, whistles sirens, and horns some things you wouldnt expect in a camper,(like a fireplace, bigscreen, etc,) owned 2 years, nothing broke, fell off, or melted, other than a plate (I dont know how to cook in a convection oven) not bad for a 5th whl sold to a complete novice (RV MORON) just cant seem to be able to sell it, dont need it anymore, since I retired last year,it just sits there, may turn it into a horse trailer, whaddya think?
