bfg 305/65/R17 on stock wheels?

I'm looking at the bfg 305/65/R17's and needing advice. Anyone out there running these on stock wheels with no lift? Any issues? I assume they wear well with the proper pressure (I've had very good luck with bfg's on other trucks in the past). I am also considering this or the 285's, but would prefer the beefy sidewall of the E rated tire if they will fit with no rub. I've got the factory aluminum wheels and would prefer to keep them, so I'm hoping that the 305's would fit... any pics would be a big plus.

I bet they will rub worse than 315s because they are slightly wider that the 315s... my 315s rubbed the control arm.



Physically, they will fit fine in the fenders... might be a touch wide for the aluminum OE wheels...

When you study the specs:

BFGoodrich Tires | All-Terrain T/A® KO | Tire Sizes & Specs

it appears they would fit just fine especially when they are so close in width to the 315's yet much shorter.

They will fit fine. I had 305/70R17 MT/Rs on my 2005 with no issues.

I have that size in Procomp Xtreme A/T's with no problems. I originally had them on stock wheels, but aftermarket wheels now. But no problems or rubbing either way.

Bringing this back up again - sorry, but I have searched the forum for the last 4 hours and am not finding enough info about this new (newer tire size).



Specifically I am wondering if the BFG AT 305/65/17 E Rate tire will fit on 3rd GEN (2005) stock alloys, stock suspension with out rubbing? Or if it rubs, when and how much and on what does it rub.



Went thru the stock 265/70/17 BFG Rugged Trails in 22k

Burned thru a set of 285/70/17 Toyo OC AT in 14k



Now I am considering going back to a tire I have had acceptable tread life, in the past, with my driving/towing stlye, but want something with a bit larger foot print without having to add spacers up front.

Weird, I ran that tire for 30K and then sold the wheels & tires with still tread on them. I don't see any reason you couldn't run the BFG size you mentioned.

Yes, the BFG 305/65/17 fits just fine on stock wheels and stock truck. No problems with my 2007 and I will put them on my 06.

See my sig, 30K miles and no problems. They won't wear as strong as the Michelins but the snow traction is ten times better and they are not noisy at all. You may want to put flares on if you drive on dirt roads regularly.

Has anyone found a better price than $222 per tire (from tirerack.com). My local NTB guys will match the best price I can find and print out for them. So far this is the lowest I can seem to find.

I run them at 65psi in the fronts and 50 in the rear for reasonable tire wear. I also rotate them every 7500 miles.

You run the full rated 65psi, up front all the time?



I am one to also run more pis in the front to assist in best wear, but I usually only run about 10 psi more in the front.



Not bashing you, just asking questions, so I know what will work the best when I get mine on the truck.

i put BFG 305/65R17E on my '04, no problem with rubbing. i thought i saw on the BFG website that that size tire needed a wheel that was 8. 5 to 11 inches wide though.
